| Hi, Reason of this message: (suggested by Abe Lincoln) This is here because not everyone would have to read the whole history about the problem. (that has various and very long threads and could be confusing by now) an other reason is to keep this problem alive until it's solved. If you think I missed something important or wrote an error put it here. About which Graphics Cards: This problem (TV-in and TV-out don't work) only occurs with these cards (equipped with monitor chip) ASUS V8420 Deluxe ASUS V8440 Deluxe ASUS V8460 Ultra Deluxe Conclusions/Solution until now: - We have found no link with the version of Drivers and/or Operating Systems. - It's not an IRQ problem. - There is no clear link with the type of motherboard (chip set). (usually it are ASUS motherboards but some people had the problem on other MBs.) - Some people were able to make it work once but not based on the same action. (Bios upgrade, after reinserting after a long off time(days), Temp reasons) not much is know about this phenomenon. - ASUS support doesn't recognize this problem. (they play dead) - It can't be solved by using default settings in the bios. - There is a very likely to work solution but not very practical one. Change the 3.3V of the PS to 3.35V or 3.4Vmax A 400W PS won't guaranty that it will work because it could be a 400W with an 3.3V of only 3.25V. So TRYING an PS is the only way. But to give you an idea if you don't know much about Power Supplies: An Enermax430W or Antec truepower380W are both good choices. (they most likely won't give you an 3.4v but at least a stable 3.3V) Smartdoctor should read AGP bus = 3.2V or more if you have less then you are likely to have the code 10 problem. If you solved your problem or never had any problem with these cards then please share some info about your system here: http://www.asusboards.com/forums/sho...threadid=38545 P.S. My ASUS V8440 Deluxe is sent to ASUS (RMA) but I haven't received one back yet (Since September2002) P.S. about how to change your 3.3V to 3.35V you need to have a qualified electronic degree to do that.

| Hi, I have good and bad news (but I'm afraid that al the good news is for me) I did RMA (via the store) an Asus V8440 deluxe back because there was some sort of noise in the TV-in video. last week someone of this board offered me to help because it was taking so lang before I got any reaction but I needed also the right RMA number so I called the store, the store called the distributer. So delay's and trouble to give me that number and eventualy the store called me and said we can't give the RMA number because the 'THE CARD IS MISSING' I don't know if ASUS lost it or the distributor of ASUS but the distributor said we can give you an V8460 Deluxe but ask him if he wants to pay the more price. The man from the store called me and said I assume you don't want to pay for the more price because we would give the card anyway And today I did put my new ASUS V8460 Deluxe in my computer all voltages are the same like before (AGP bus 3.13/3.15V) But I had some trouble installing the drivers because the previous ones weren't uninstalled. (I loaded an old registry, WinME) And now comes the confusing part I don't have any trouble with the capture drivers. !!! (It can still come it's still day one) So what happened ? - Some or newer V84*0 Deluxe cards aren't that sensitive for the low voltage. (bad cards or corrected design error) - Due to all the driver problems it was fixed with an old reg upload or something else. (not very likely) at the moment I have smartdoc 2.65 (no script error for now) driver 28.32b (from the disk) and WDM drivers 1.19. So my advice would be if you have trouble with the capture driver RMA it that is assuming you can miss your card for some time. One more thing apart of the 3D glasses and the card I have everything double. (manual may2002 and oct2002, cables, software) Well you know what they say: No luck in Love means Luck with computer stuff. I have an Aopen FSP300-60BT (3.3V, 5V max180W) (3.3V, 5V, 12V max280W) (MB3.3V=3.23V smartdoc3.3V=3.13V/3.15V) anyone know how you can determine the build date of the Deluxe card? edit: Did change to 31.40H drivers and ASUSDVCR2.352 and DX9.0 Also I did overclock the FSB from 133-->140 still no problem. Bios version of the ASUS V8460 DELUXE V4.25.00.34

| Hello All, This is a copy of a post on a different thread - I hope this is not too much against policy I had a similar problem and after trawling this and other posts I would like to detail my findings which I hope will be of use to someone. This is for XP but it might work for 2000. Like some others, I noticed that the WDM worked as it was installed and only failed after the machine was reset. This behaviour was indicitive of pre-requisite drivers or services not being available at the time the WDM is called. You may therefore find that if you disable the WDM device with the code 10 and then re-enable it (don't restart). You should find that it works. A lot of the other solutions involving power supplies, fan-out cables and motherboards etc. I think are a red herring. They may have worked by coincidence as the pre-requisite may have had the time to start on the new installation - and no two installations are precisely the same. Anyway, I have not been able to chase down exactly what is involved and how to delay it starting, but the solution worked for me very reliably. As it was only an experiment to compare 4600 capture with dedicated capture cards, I cannot progress this any further inless the need is urgent but I hope this might point someone in the right direction for a full solution. Anyway, I hope this helps and is not covering old (and discredited ) answers from earlier. Goods luck __________________ Cheers Andy

| WDM capture code 10 problem solved... READ! Well after reading a lot and trying a lot i found it lol. It is simple. The problem is when your windows boots too fast so the device can not be started (tv chip) on v8420 8440 8460 deluxe. I found that today when i pulled the cord from the wall for some reason (doesnt matter) and after disk checking i went to display properties to see if i set d3d option to blend and VOILA - TV CHIP line was at the image on the top od gf fx properties window. i tried tv out - works, i restart - it doesnt work. Then i fopund a way to slow boot. Just go and right click your main drive and click properties and click check for errors and windows asks u if ya want to schedule it for next reboot. U accept and reboot. VOILA TV CHIP is there. I already got response on some other forums that it actually works LOL!!!! PLS report back. HOOAH! AND DONT FORGET TO SPREAD A WORD ABOUT THIS!!!! PLEASE! |
