| i use a Samsung 900NF 19" 18" vis. monitor, and i LOVE it. it is the best monitor i have ever owned. im running 1600x1200 at 85Hz. Its Diamontron, same as FD Trinitron. And best of all its pretty cheap. |

| I just bought a NEC FP912SB. I had also been looking at the P95f+ because I wanted a black monitor to go with my all black component PC. The NEC has a Diamondtron screen with two SuperBright modes and a .24mm dot pitch (as opposed to the Viewsonic's variable dot pitch .25mm inside - .27mm edges). As I had no way of seeing either monitor before buying, I went for the one with better specs. I bought from Dell (they had free shipping and applied multiple online coupons/offers when I made my purchase) and you may want to check their prices before buying from any of the pricewatch/grabber, etc sites. The monitor had good default setup for low resolutions (1280xN or lower), but the higher resolutions needed some manual tweaking. NEC's site has a software app called Naviset that allows for tweaking right from the desktop and test patterns to help setup up color, convergence, etc. Good luck with whatever you choose! |

| I don't know the best 19" monitor , but I do OWN the worst -- Samsung SyncMaster 950b. Truly, the brightest "darklevel" and darkest brightness I have ever seen -- the turned-off, unplugged screen is so bright it can give you skin-cancer ... Like that's bad enough, the on-screen configuration tool was designed by lobotomized CIA double-agents, and can be used only by the monkey who wrote 12 of Shakespeares plays. |

| If I were looking for a 19" CRT I'd get the Samsung 957MB (Magic Brite) .20mm can do 1600 x 1200 @ 75hz (recommended)... I'm shopping for an LCD, but have been using a Samsung 955DF...

| First Diamondtron and Trinitron are very similar but not the same. Trinitron is better of the 2, but more expensive. I have had both and was very happy with each. I have the Sony Trinitron 19" on order right now, but the Viewsonic 19" monitors are also very good at much less $$. As one of Viewsonic's aperture grill P series (not all P series are aperture grill) you should be very happy with it. However, if you really do want the best (Best picture, best quality, longest life) get the Sony. |

| I am quite happy with NEC's line of 19" monitors. I had a MultiSync FE950+, and I am now using a FE991SB. As has been said, they use Mitsubishi's Diamondtron Aperture Grille technology, which is pretty close to Trinitron quality, only at a MUCH better price. Setting them up is quite easy with the NaviSet utility at the NEC/Mitsubishi site. It is a great program and lets you setup the monitor in windows using color displays and testing patterns to get things looking just right. So for the best value I would highly recommend an NEC monitor. Any way you go though, be sure to get a monitor that is Aperture Grille and not Shadow Mask. I bought a Samsung 955DF before getting my first NEC and I returned that ugly mess in less than a day. Shadow Mask monitors w/ "flat screens" look horrible IMHO.

| i have the viewsonic 19 inch P95f+ nice black monitor and the price was pretty good was $259 u.s two months ago... its a nice monitor for crt but not the best ... it has those two lines on the screen (which i had on my old sony 17 inch and dont bother me at all) some people at newegg complained about blurry text at certain resolution settings , but i have never found that to be true...perhaps they are not using the right drivers or profile...its a solid good monitor, great for games...i have mine set right now at 1024 x 768 @100 mhz and all is well...for games its set at 85 mhz ...so if money is tight go with it and you will be happy...if you can afford it i would look at a higher end monitor...but in most cases you cant go wrong with viewsonic...or sony... ... |

| Samsung 17" looks great ! Dark Aegis: Funny thing is, my 17" Samsung_750s looks great. The 19" 950b & 17" monitors sit next to eachother and the comparison ... well, there IS no comparison. |
