AMD to use GDDR5 in all new cards...

If I'm reading this correctly, it looks like this will be in the entire line, not just the top of the line.

There's the R7xx and the RV7xx line. I'm betting the RV7xx are something significantly cheaper (GDDR3 or possibly even DDR3 on the cheapest sub-$100 cards).

The R770 will be GDDR5 though, for sure. Which will be nice. I'm really looking forward to a good in-depth technical article on the first R770-based X2 card, the memory access model they've cooked up looks super nice. There's some darned clever people working at ATi.

I was (as recently as a couple of days ago) lukewarm towards the new ATi cards but I admit I'm beginning to percolate about them.
That rumored $350 price point for their most powerful single GPU card really has my interest.
If it completes well with nVidia's sure-to-be-more-expensive part I'll have to seriously look at getting an HD4870.
Too bad (if the rumors are correct) I won't be able to buy one 'till July.

Can't wait for the launches...I'm really curious about these new cards from both companies. It's interesting that one of the most competitive areas will be that of power consumption. Never thought that would matter to me, but I find these days that it does.

The rumored price I saw was $229. Of course intitial cards will be at a premium. Lower power usage and performing around 9800GTX scores are what I'm hoping for. I'm almost %100 positive on getting one.

Back 'atcha, Hans.
From what I have read some of the new cards might be launched at Comdex, but these will not be the ATi GDDR5 cards. Those will come later at some unspecified date. Sad, because these are the cards I am interested in.

I have a good feeling the Pro model will be as fast as my original 8800GTS which is pretty fast only it will consume %50 less power (110W). The XT version will probably be equal to the current 9800GTX which is awesome. Of course these two new cards use ATI's PowerPlay to downclock the core freq. when idle saving many electrons from burning up.
