I'm looking for a new NVidia GeForce 2 GTS based card with 32MB of DDR RAM. Of the three listed below which is the most compatible with the CUSL2-C? Using PIII 1Gig on an ASUS CUSL2-C, Win 98SE and 512MB SDRAM:

ASUS V7700 Pure
Creative 3D Blaster Annihilator 2
ELSA Gladiac

Not a hardcore gamer, but when I do play, it's nice to know the video card will be able to handle it. TIA.

Recently bought a V7700 Pure 32MB and am quite happy with it. A lot cheaper now than a month ago. Wasn't sure whether replacing the Voodoo 3 was worth it until I got Q3A. The OpenGL support is well worth it. Came with DVD software too, which came in handy (although added expense).

Flip a coin they are all based on the reference design, however I can tell you that you can enable SBA on the Creative card in their control panel utility.

ASUS boards have H/W monitoring just like the CUSL2. Comes with cool monitoring S/W!

There is a difference between manufactures (ATi is best), but for Geforce2, ELSA apparently has advanced 2D, otherwise the same.

Monitor is more important. (don't buy NEC AS75F.. mine is crap).

ddd,

I have heard that Elsa does have a slight edge in the 2d department. Strange how you don't see 2d numbers in reviews of these cards. Besides Elsa offers a 6 year warranty. No NEC here. I will continue to use my ViewSonic P775. Love it.

All nVidia graphics cards are plauged by a signal noise problem. Try running a Geforce2 at 1600x1200x32 (85Hz) on any Trinitron display.. you'll see what I mean. Bad ghosting, blurriness, etc... If you want nothing but pure 2d quality, I would get a Matrox G400 or G450. They are probably the highest quality 2D cards on the market.

Yeah, but with a 17" monitor I stick with 1024x768x65k @ 72.
