Its a new option in the intel chipset.

The upper 1GB of the 2GB module would be run in single channel.

I couldn't find any official documentation on the technology existing in the Santa Rosa platform or the PM965 chipset, but if anybody does, please post a link. Thanks.

Re: 3 Gigs of RAM????

I'm pretty sure I saw it on AMD laptops as well.....

HPs with Turion x2s and 7150 onboard video

I wonder if anyone has done any testing....

with Vista----the more memory the better.....

Interesting----a bit of chip chicanerey to trick memory into partially running Dual Channel

But heck----with RAM prices so low-----if you have two banks---and it will support up to 4 gigs....

Why not just go to 4 gigs and have REAL dual channel???

Are they thinking the 3.3 Gig limit for 32Bit??

Re: 3 Gigs of RAM????

If 32bit cant handle the full use of 4gb the offer 3gb option which makes a lot of since.

Re: 3 Gigs of RAM????

Yeah, the 965 (and all new chipsets after that) Intel chipset can run dual channel with different size memory sticks
