FX-55 90nm, Opteron 252 90nm - Feb. 14th

I posted this yesterday here, but didn't generate any discussion, so thought I'd make its own thread, because I'm very interested.

Looks like the 90nm FX-55 is going to be released on the 14th as per this conversation. Hopefully it will be the E stepping with SSE3. Also , the 252 Opteron is scheduled for release. Haven't fully digested the articles yet.

Hehe - was lucky - just sold my FX-55 on Saturday for $950 + shipping to a fellow [H]'er as used.

And it is confirmed that the Opteron 252 is using a core later than the other 90nm Opterons (Rev D4), and later than Winchester (Rev D). It might be Rev E, or an even later D revision.

Hopefully E, which will bring SSE3.

Off topic a little, are all Winchesters with Dual-channel Memory Controller or just some of them?

The race for quality has no finish line- so technically, it's more like a death march.

Man, one fx-55 just sold for $975 buy-it-now on fleabay and one up for bid is going at $990. Looks like soon all the Fx-55's will be over a thousand. Heh - just wait for the 1st week or 2 of the 90nm FX-55.

I think I am gonna opt for a FX-55 (hopefully already a 90nm unit).
Since all of my last CPUs haven't been real overclocking wonders, I want to take care to get a good clocker this time.

What and where do I have to especially take a look at upon buying?
The FX all have the same stepping, don't they (unless they now change to the 90nms for sure), so only thing that's left is the production week. Correct?
Where to get that info upon purchase (retail box, heatspreader,...)? Which are the "good" chips?

How do/did you choose your FX?
