Question Any Problems Using A 4-Pin ATX Power Connector With A Quad Core?

Asus says that my motherboard supports all the current S775 quad core processors. I have done a few builds for a couple of friends recently and noticed their motherboards all had an 8-pin EPS12V connector. This connector is apparently for those with quad core CPUs to make sure they get enough stable juice.

As stated in the topic, my motherboard only has the 4-pin power connector for the CPU. Would this provide enough juice if I decided down the road to upgrade to a Q9650?

Am I asking for stability problems?

If the board claims support for quad cores it should be fine. From the research I have done the pins in a 8 pin connector are tied to the same physical traces on the board anyway. The way I understand it Intel added the EPS12V spec/connector to keep the amperage per pin in spec as high end multi socket server boards were exceeding the max pin amperage spec. This was at a time when Intel server CPU's were extremely power hungry. Since newer Intel processors draw less current and desk top mother boards only have a single CPU socket anyway the EPS12V connector is really not needed.
