I received this:

Hi sir glad to here back from you they have tested and did duplicate the issue, But the key thing that they said to me was it isn’t causing performance issues, they are working on a fix for this at the moment it may be on the next bios or the 1 after that they go by issues that cause performance problems.

Re: ASUS P6T Deluxe (x58/ ICH10R)

Well....

That's a start....

And----to tell you the truth......as bad as Motherboard support is....

Who is better than Asus at technical support??

Abit was terrible in the last few years.....
Gigabyte???? I don't think so....
eVGA??? Maybe----pretty darn good graphic board support!
MSI??? You've got to be kidding....
Biostar???? Used to be pretty good----not sure now----hear they are VERY slow on updating BIOS.
DFI?? Probaly the best for just outright BIOS support
Foxconn??? Does Foxconn even have tecnical support???
Jetway?? No Way
ECS----up and comer----but still "budget boards"

This is the first Asus Board I've used in 4 years in a build.....

I'm frankly impressed----good quality----good documentation----good utilities----good website support----fair technical support

All-in-all-----there is a reason why Asus is #1

I'm not sure I'll ever use another board maker.....

Unless I go back to my "adventurous" ways.......

Try building a rig with a Jetway board for instance----save a few bucks---but spend hours trying to update drivers, understand documentation----and the overall quality DOES NOT come close to an Asus.....

I agree, this is my 3ed ASUS board in a row. Before that I liked Gigabyte. But, I found that Asus supports the boards better for new CPU's w/ bios updates.

Re: ASUS P6T Deluxe (x58/ ICH10R)

Asus have improved over the years. The documentation comments always get me though. BIOS setting: This is to enable or disable BIOS setting. No ****! How is that documentation? I have to find some Linux hackers to get info on some BIOS settings. BIOS setting information I always find lacking. All the other install information is listed in every board manual I have seen now and never consider on better than the other.

Cool looks like I will finally have a "perfect" system with the memory conflict gone.

Re: ASUS P6T Deluxe (x58/ ICH10R)

There is a new review of the P6T dated Feb 03, 2009 on Legit Reviews.

Legit Reviews - ASUS P6T Deluxe OC Palm Motherboard Review - The ASUS P6T Deluxe Motherboard

I wrote the author: brian@legitreviews.com

Dear Brian,

I enjoyed your review. One thing you must have missed. There is a memory conflict with device:
342d X58 I/O Hub I/OxAPIC Interrupt Controller

I think people should be informed of this when the board is reviewed.

Best Regards,

Absolutely true!

BIOS settings information is horribly hard to find.....

I subscribe to Adrian Rojak Pot's BIOS newsletter which helps a little.

But it seems with there are a SLEW of new BIOS settings with the new Intel C2ds, Quads and all newer models.....AMD Phenoms too.....

And NOBODY tells you what these settings do----or how they affect things in any sort of comprehensive fashion.

In today's age of the internet----and shared resources and knowlege....

I just find that incredible!!!

DFI is a little better in their manuals----but not by much.

Also, the same setting can be called by defiant names on different boards. Very confusing when trying to research a bios setting.

Re: ASUS P6T Deluxe (x58/ ICH10R)

I did a search on Intel trying to find more information on the: Intel 5520/5500/X58 I/O Hub I/OxAPIC Interrupt Controller - 342D

I found the Intel X58 Express Chipset Specification Update, January 2009
http://chuckbam.com/i7_P6T-D/320839.pdf

I think the memory conflict is referenced. But, I am not sure. I never went to school for this stuff. I have a business degree. But, I try to learn as I go.

Can some one clarify this info for me? If yes, can you interpretare?

Re: ASUS P6T Deluxe (x58/ ICH10R)

This is not a memory conflict. Think of a memory conflict as like having a senior moment and in that forgetfulness you just stop to think about it as that range is invalid and doesn't contain what you were looking for. Except in this case, with computers, you crash. Because, as in physics, two objects cannot occupy the same space. However, I have seen "memory conflicts" that are probably not conflicts because all other applications do not point to a problem. As if something is being read incorrectly. Memory ranges are where the "transactions" of the device take place. Kind of like how we live at certain addresses within a cul-de-sac. This is where Mr. Video Card's memory range is and where the CPU (or other parts of the computer) communicate with it. Imagine what would happen if Mr. Video Card and Mr. SATA Controller lived at the same address. And don't think hypothetically Odd Couple roommate possible. Think two houses trying to meld, which cannot happen without a lot of problems. They need to live in separate lots. In the allocable space of the housing development.

In this errata, it basically states that if a legacy INTx and an MSI are pending in the X58 I/O APIC the end of the interrupt transaction will not take place due to this bug. Therefore to work around this, you will need to use an I/O APIC off the I/O controller hub, rather than the X58.

Re: ASUS P6T Deluxe (x58/ ICH10R)

New bios came out today 1206.

Change Log:
Fix can't enter OS if use over 4GB RAM and Vista 64bit together with 2 pcs of GTX295 VGA card

It looks like it also removed the X58 I/O Hub I/OxAPIC Interrupt Controller

Re: ASUS P6T Deluxe (x58/ ICH10R)

I never believe the Asus bios change logs are complete. They are so brief.

That is one way to fix the I/OxAPIC Interrupt Controller, simply remove it. They will probably wait till Intel gives them the bio fix for the off x58 configuration.

This new i7 stepping, is that going to limit new CPU upgrades for this board? Not that I think I would need to change CPUs for a While. Tri Channel with 4 cores w/ HT at 3.6GHz should be OK for me for me a few months longer.
