Everything is fine. Have not run any benchmarks. But, did 8 thread Prime95 test it.

I am not happy with my Power Management. This computer is not going from 12x to 20x fast enough. I have been going in and disabling when I am using heavy. I have been enabling C-State, CIE and SpeedStep all at one time.

I am going to test with C1E only and SpeedStep only. I don't think any of the Asus utilities will let me turn it off when I am set to Manual. The Windows power plan will not turn it off.

Good luck with the water cooling. I was reading on the other thread about you doing that.

Customer Impact of Change and Recommended Action:
Intel anticipates no change to customer platforms designed to Intel guidelines. The Intel® Core™ i7-920 processor on D-0 stepping will require a BIOS update due to the new CPUID. Once customers implement the BIOS update, they will be able to accept both C-0 and D-0 stepping material. Customers should be ready to receive a combination of both C-0 and D-0 stepping material by the “Date Customer Must be Ready to Receive Post-Conversion Material” above. For customers implementing their own BIOS, it is necessary to incorporate the latest Microcode Update (MCU) to support the D-0 stepping. Contact your motherboard manufacturer for the latest BIOS update.

Re: ASUS P6T Deluxe (x58/ ICH10R)

I updated to 1206 BIOS with EZ Flash 2

Asus has either gotten BIOS flashing down to a science-----or I did something wrong.....

It updated to the 1206 BIOS just fine.....

But I didn't have to reset ANY settings in BIOS....

How is that possible.....????

I've ALWAYS had to reset my BIOS settings after a BIOS update....

Somehow it saved the backup OC Profile and automatically loaded it as the default after the flash.....

Or----it never erased those settings to begin with.....

System seems fine----runs great-----but do you think I should go into the case and Clear CMOS----and set everything back up......

Or has Asus figured out how to do this for you automatically---(a nice feature if they have).....

Clearing CMOS and setting everything back up can be a PAIN-----especially if you haven't written everything down and have a terrible memory like I do.....

That is one way to fix the I/OxAPIC Interrupt Controller, simply remove it
I just updated the BIOS, and looked for the conflict resolution when I actually saw it removed from the system I said "What the %#@$%&?!" I don't understand this at all. Why was it removed, and not resolved? This actually irritates me severely. Sometimes, I just want to inflict pain upon people!!!!-I digress.....

Actually, there are more X58 devices that should be listed but are not. I know there is a difference because of the Gigabyte board had more installed. For example, there are trusted platform modules for the X58 core logic.

Re: ASUS P6T Deluxe (x58/ ICH10R)

Asus or Intel just say, "What Problem----we don't have a problem----show me the problem!"

Hard to do if if the device just got "dropped"....

Political expediancy----done every day----unfortunately.

Shal----when you updated your BIOS----did you have to reset your BIOS settings???

See my post above.

I didn't have to reset anything----and I've ALWAYS had to reset my BIOS settings after a flash....

Weird......

Re: ASUS P6T Deluxe (x58/ ICH10R)

I never had to reset anything, settings wise. The BIOS has maintained everything configured. Remember I do not overclock though. I did have to reset the power for the system to reboot after a flash. But the last two I have not needed to do this.

Re: ASUS P6T Deluxe (x58/ ICH10R)

I can not get into EZ Flash 2 with my OC settings. I need to set to default and re-boot and go back into the bios. Probably not a bad method anyway.

PS: To be safe, I would not think it is a good idea to flash with an OC CPU.

I hear ya! When Intel provides a solution, only then may we get that back. I think Asus owes us a complete detail of all bios changes.

I wrote 6 or more authors of P6T reviewers about this conflict. Asking why they did not note it. Thinking maybe one or two may add it as an amendment. Several wrote back. I was told that by all that responded, Asus x58 boards are the most sold for overclocking they tested. One told me that MIS still has not come out with a stable bios yet. I was also told at-least 2x that most other x58 boards were having problems with 12GBs. None seemed interested in the I/OxAPIC Interrupt.

A little to Asus defense and why I buy Asus boards. I have found that Asus supports their boards for new CPU's longer than most other makers. My old trusty P5B-D (P965-E) is still getting updated.

Not long ago, I wanted to update a 775 915 P4 board to a later P4 CPU. It was a Gigabyte board. They had no update for that CPU. They seemed to stop support before the end of the P4 run. Interested, I looked at the Asus 915 boards. They all seemed to support all the P4 CPUs, and had updates long after Gigabyte did on the board I had. I ended up buying a replacement 915 board. I had Vista on it and did not want any problems with the OS. The owner had personal files all over the place. And installed programs / no disks. I found a Foxconn cheap (real nice MB).

With overclocked settings----EZ Flash 2 will not start from within BIOS....

You have to start it at Post with two keys held down (Shift and F2 I think----but its right in the manual.....)

Good point about flashing with overclocked values.....

Although it worked fine for me.....

In fact----better than fine----it not only flashed----but I had NOTHING to reset after the flash....

Worked like a charm and very slick. I think Asus really has a nice utility with EZ Flash 2----as I've ALWAYS had to reset all my BIOS values after a flash.... RAID, voltages, timings, disabled devices-----etc.

And with OC Profile------I can switch between BIOS settings in a flash.....

In fact----I think one of the reasons this worked so easily is that I had stored the "default profile" in OC Profile with my best----most stable BIOS settings-----and after flash----it reverted to "default"----which is what I wanted anyway....

That's my theory....but hey---it worked!!!

SWEET!
