Re: ASUS P6T Deluxe (x58/ ICH10R)

Wow----what a pain Chuck.....

I didn't have near those problems......but it still wiped evwerything.

Wonder why it wiped mine and spared yours......

I updated from 1504

Did you update from 1605 or 1604???

Maybe that is why your settings were somewhat saved and mine were blitzed

I did a 1606 to a 1611. I don't use that SAS controller, so I don't know why I updated anyway. Infact, I will disable it again on my next boot. I did add a eSATA card. But, it is a little slow because it is only PCIE x1. I did not think it would limit me but it does. I like the ICH10R.

That SAS bios update did something to my MBR.

In Everest it reports only a PCIE 1x bus

Re: ASUS P6T Deluxe (x58/ ICH10R)

I did the new 1701 BIOS this weekend.....

Seems totally fine at the same overclock settings.

Also---unlike the last BIOS update----this time EZFlash 2 DID NOT zero out all my settings----it just updated the BIOS.

The last version zeroed EVERYTHING out. Unlike all the other EZFlash 2 updates previously which had been VERY painless.

Looks like we are back to Painless BIOS updates for this board----EXCELLENT!!!

I think that was because you skipped a bios version.

Re: ASUS P6T Deluxe (x58/ ICH10R)

I think it was because that last BIOS also required you to flash the Firmware of the SAS controller....

So they wanted you to start totally from scratch....

My theory anyway......

Re: ASUS P6T Deluxe (x58/ ICH10R)

Hi guys, I have just built my new I7 920 rig (see sig, rig 1) I understand you guys have the MB with the sas controller but I have the V2 MB without the sas sontroller but basically we have the same MB. I am right now running everything at stock settings and or auto. Every game I throw at it, it runs without breaking a sweat. I idle around 34c and under gaming I may hit 56c under load using real temp. I only play racing games, NR2003, GTR Evoluton with every addon, GTL, Shift, Dirt, rFactor etc. My problem is if I try to run Prime 95 or Orthos (Beta) I get a BSOD usually instantly and the blue screen does not stay up long enough for me to see any of the error message. I thought this may be due to Windows 7 64bit beta, so i installed Windows Xp SP3 32 bit but the same problems. I can not bog this PC down with antivirus running transferring files and gaming all at once, but run a stress test program and instant BSOD. I did run memtest 86 4.0 over night and ran 9 test with no errors. I have tried upping the volts on the on everything in bios to all yellow setting on v core and everything else but same results. I have losened up my memory timings to 9,9,9,26 but did not help. I am at a lost here. As long as I don't stress test my system is stable, LOL.
I have the latest bios for MB and latest drivers for video cards, sound card, chipset etc. If anyone has any ideas, I would love to hear them. Thanks.

Have you tested each stick of RAM one at a time?

I would use Prime 95. You may have a bad stick.

OK I will do that now and hopefully report back in the hour, thanks.
One more quick question, just above the CPU socket is the 4/8 atx plugin from the power supply, is their a reason that 4 of those pins are capped off and am I suppose to just plug in the 4pin plugin or remove the cap and plug all 8 in. I can find no reference to this on any website. Thanks again.

If your Power Supply has the 8-pin connector, use that. If not, just keep the cap on and use the 4-pin. Either way it should not be a problem.

If you pass prime95 with one stick at a time, I would test 2T

Re: ASUS P6T Deluxe (x58/ ICH10R)

My PSU has the 4+4. I tried just the 4 and then both thinking that may be the problem but no change. I am off to try memory sticks one at a time, thanks!

Re: ASUS P6T Deluxe (x58/ ICH10R)

So far with just one stick of ram, I have been running prim95 for 20 minutes. This has been the worse build ever, I have had to RMA my MB, my Pioneer DVD burner, and now it looks like my ram may be bad, but damn this PC is fast, LOL.
