Wow! CINEBENCH really makes use of the four cores (plus HT) - very nice

342d X58 I/O Hub I/OxAPIC Interrupt Controller

I have a feeling that it is a driver problem. I am still going to call ASUS this week.

Be happy I am not posting my throw-up error log or a hijack. I hate searching for things and keep finding them.

Re: ASUS P6T Deluxe (x58/ ICH10R)

Chuck----amd getting ready to do the build-----just waiting on 12 gigs of Cas 7 1600 memory from Muskin----due in tomorrow and cost me a small fortune.....

Found two sets of Intel Matrix Manager Drivers on the Asus Web Site----I assume you are using the 8.6.0.1007 version which is what Intel lists as the latest.

Also----found a newer Marvell Yukon LAN Driver on Marvells site if you are interested. Marvell: Download Drivers

Happy to see you onboard. After shaihulud told us about the memory conflict, I noticed that Intel uses 9.1.0.1007 http://www.intel.com/performance/desktop/consumer_spec_config.htm.

I found it on Guru3D.com Intel Chipset Software Installation Utility 9.1.0.1007 download from Guru3D.com

I installed it with the -OVERALL command. I don't know if it updated that /OxAPIC Interrupt Controller but it did re-install everything with the command. I notice that there are several older inf updates for just that interrupt Controller on chipsets that are included with the x58 chipset. I don't think the x58 chip[set is really entirely new technology. I think Intel has been using some form of it for a while now.

Looks like Intel, no longer lets you update the infs if you can't understand the advanced directions. I was installing that utility for 6 months till I noticed it was doing nothing at default setup.

Re: ASUS P6T Deluxe (x58/ ICH10R)

Chuck----The chipset drivers on the Asus site are 9.1.0.1007-----I just checked....

What is confusing to me is why Asus has TWO versions of the Intel Matrix Storage Manager Software and floppy RAID drivers on their site.....

One set (the older of the two) is listed in the LAN section of their download page. While the newer set of drivers is listed in the "Others" page.

Good catch on the OVERALL command.....

I always wondered if anything actually got updated whenever I ran a newer INF Chipset Install Utility....

It appears not.....

They have must have updated the ASUS site since I last checked, I think????

I am using 8.6.0.007 Intel Matrix Storage Console. Is that the one on the site?

I am going to check out the Marvel driver now, thanks

Re: ASUS P6T Deluxe (x58/ ICH10R)

Any problems that you are aware of with sticking a PCIx 1x card in a PCIx 4x or 8x slot????

I don't think there is ----but just want to check.....

My Creative X-fi is going into the black 4x slot-----and my Hauppage TV card is goinging into the last PCIx slot on the edge of the board......

Re: ASUS P6T Deluxe (x58/ ICH10R)

Check with the manufacturer, but technically there should be no issue.

All I know is what you probably read that the PCIx is (16/x16/x1 or x16/x8/x8 mode). But, other places I read that ASUS states someplace that the 3 PCIx slots are only for Video. But, people have tested them with RAID cards and they worked fine. Your 4x slot should be standard for that configuration.

I phoned ASUS first line Tech support today. I was not shocked that the tech had no knowledge of it. After a while, I think I convinced him that it was not only my P6T board.

He had me update (if it was one) the ATK. No fix from that.

He gave me a Tech report form that I sent back to him completed. There is a chance someone my look at it. But, I also will be not shocked if the Tech who gets it, knows about it already.

I just hope they get back to me. I have a contact name. Just a "we are working on it" would make me happy (for now).

Re: ASUS P6T Deluxe (x58/ ICH10R)

I have a Samsung SATA DVD burner....

The plan is to use the Intel ports 1 and 2 for a RAID setup

And port 5 for the SATA DVD burner...

Anyone see any problems with that???? I thought I read somewhere that if you uses a RAID you are limited to 4 disks----and they should be on ports 1-4----and then any other additional devices should occupy ports 5 and 6.

Last time I set up an Intel RAID was on an Intel ICH8R so things may have changed----but I do remember that the 965 Chipset had real problems sharing both RAID and another device unless the BIOS were done really well....

Most Boards got it fixed with later BIOS releases----I know my Abit did----but by then I had gone back to an IDE burner.

RAID is the same. Lookes the same and everything. I found the port order wrong in the manual. I like my RAID to use, lets say ports one and two. Not 3 and 6 with the DVD in the middle. Mostly just house cleaning. So check them out on boot. I have a RAID (x3) 0 on 1,2,3. A media Center drive on port 4, and a mobil rack drive on 5. Intel makes it EZ. My SATA DVD is on port 6,

I have the SAS controller Disabled but it is backwards compatible with SATA- so I read

I have an IDE burner setup as D, by mistake, but I don't like to force Vista drive orders - had problems with that in the past.
