It has to be 3.26 because at 2.26 he should be crashing, really.

Yes----and 3.26 is no big deal-----pretty normal.

Oh and Chuck-----I understand completely about relatives thinking you are automatically their personal computer technician....

My brother and sister call me at least once a week with a "computer problem" and my 80 year old father in law is always a disaster waiting to happen.....

He downloads EVERYTHING! He installs ANYTHING! Then wonders why bad things start to happen....

I built him a computer once----thought I made it as simple as possible----spent a whole day at his house showing him and writing down instructions.

Never again.....

Re: ASUS P6T Deluxe (x58/ ICH10R)

I'm just getting going with i920, P6T and OCZ 1600 rated DDR3. If any of you would be so kind as to give detailed BIOS settings, I would be ever so grateful. I am able to boot and run at 1443 ram speed, but get random reboots.

Anyone getting reliable overclocks with 12GB?

Re: ASUS P6T Deluxe (x58/ ICH10R)

Look at Chucks earlier post----he's got some screen shots of BIOS settings and mine are similar

Voltage is everything on the board-----you will have to tweak a bit to get stable at 3.6----but yes----you can get rock solid at 3.6 with 12 gigs of RAM.

The better the RAM----the higher you can run the DDR at lower CAS

I'm actually at work now----but will try to help you the best I can....

Re: ASUS P6T Deluxe (x58/ ICH10R)

I tried to mimic the settings in this thread as a starting point. I am just learning about these new settings. Not reliable yet, so I figured there may be some other settings in the BIOS I overlooked or weren't mentioned in the earlier posts that may be causing the instability.

Re: ASUS P6T Deluxe (x58/ ICH10R)

Up your Vcore a bit-----and Dram voltage

Then use Turbo V to start inching it up a bit......

I wound up using CPU multi 18x in order to get my Ram to 1600

Lower Multi let me raise my BCLK

Or all the way to 2.26?? Big Difference....

I just ran a shade below 17000 for 3dmark 06 but had tremendous stability problems....until I found the culprit....

Turns out it had nothing to do with the CPU or Board.....

The darn PowerColor Graphics card (HD 4870 1 Gig) comes set from the factory already at overclocked settings......and was totally unstable until I reset it through Catalyst Control Center to a tad above the standard clocks for that card. Mine is now 790 Core and 910 for memory and it now is very stable......

But I may return the card because it doen't meet what they advertise-----even if it does do better than "Standard"

Will see when I do further stress testing....
Basically, all I had to do to go to 3.6 was up my vCore from 1.20V to 1.22V and my memory from 1.54V to 1.58V. Oh, the BCLK was increased to 180

Ya, Im sorry. I do that sh-t all the time. My +3.3V droops to 3.28 and 3.26V. I have been up since I first posted and have not had a crash. I was out for a good while and I was running prime95 for over 12 hours and recording TV, Virus scan ran and I defrag all my HDs at 4:00AM. So, it is not making me crash.

Re: ASUS P6T Deluxe (x58/ ICH10R)

Solid Chuck----just Solid!!!

12 hours with all that stuff running...

Your rig is IRON at 3.6!

I've been working on a DRM issue between my HP MediaSmart TV and this new rig (I can download movies just fine from CinemaNow----and they play great on the computer-----but when I try to access them through MediaCenter on the HP MediaSmart High Definition TV----I get a licensing error for some reason). DRM is such a BLACK HOLE.....

anyway----I haven't had time to play much more with stability testing-----but have yet to have a crash. Even when I had trouble finishing 3dMark06----the computer would NEVER crash----I would just get the "atimdg has stopped working error" and 3dMark06 would stop.

Now that I've clocked the graphics card back to more standard settings-----no issues.....

Right now, I am at only 32C. This thing runs 8 thread Prime95 with almost no bog. You can forget it is runnings. I was in the 42 ~46C with it running.

NEXT, and LAST: MY
Criteria Test: Successfully Loop 3DMARK06 and Prime95 v25.6 (64-bit) simultaneously
for an extended period of time at final settings

-------------------------------------------
Johnrr6,
I have been getting the "atimdg has stopped working and recovered error" for over a year. I get it now, in about one of 6 boots. If I am going to get it, it will happen with-in an hour. After, I can go run times of days and weeks wo/ the error.

My Son, gets the same error randomly on a stock Lenovo w/ an added HD 2400. I don't think it is aways a hardware problem.

Re: ASUS P6T Deluxe (x58/ ICH10R)

I found a site that had a ton of fixes:

I tried the downclock one first....and that has worked for me.

Display Driver atikmdag and nvlddmkm Stopped Responding

Plus-----the newegg reviews on the card spoke of the problem from SEVERAL reviewers

You might try downclocking your vid card just a shade to see if that eliminates that error....

Plus-----what are you using to show the results you've shown above??? What program???

It shows a Multi of 12-----what is that a multi for????

Thanks for the link. I will bookmark it a read it over. On my system, I can do away with it almost all together without the CCC. I and other, believe it is a problem with the ATI software. Years past, ATI had the best driver packs. Now, I don't think so. The new , special, 8.12 driver will not load my HD 3870. Hardly new technology. And the fact that I can be up a week without the error tells me something. Re-boot, and I can get it within moments, re-boot and not have it again till another "bad boot".

Now take my Son, having the problem on a HD 2400 installed in an Lenovo!

I don't think the X1xxx series ever has this problem. My personal belief is that it is a Vista/ HD xxx/ Aero problem. And ATI will not own up to it.

Re: ASUS P6T Deluxe (x58/ ICH10R)

I had a few crashes. I had to increase my vCore to 1.25V. I feel if you have 12GBs of memory, a real stress test would be when some of it was used. Well it helped me find the instability. It now runs this test fine. I ran it 4 or 5 times. This test runs 36% of the 12GB.
