| Re: ASUS P6T Deluxe (x58/ ICH10R) Because I am not an extreme overclocker and I want to power down. I did some of my own math. Looks like what I will need is DDR3 1333 MHz for a BCLK of 165 to 170. I am going to keep the TM function. I will use air. So, my OC will depend on the vcore and the thermal. I am thinking that 165 should be OK. i7 920 http://chuckbam.com/i7_P6T-D/BCLK1.xls .

They are using a VCore of 1.25. Even at stock speed. I think you don't need it that high at lower overclocks. I have not seen the official Intel specs yet. But, I have seen a number of CPUZ that have the 920 at 1.16 ~ 1.176. So for a lower overclock, I don't think this helps me much with cooling needs. I need to see the Intel specs. I know that it is 130W. I am thinking about a 3.3 to 3.4 OC.

I am sure there will be a few more around here. I am going to wait and let the first offer price settle down. They would think I would be nuts on XtremeSystems Forums. But, I think I will shoot for 3.3GHz and run the memory a little under stock of 1333. I have read with the Corsair memory you can take the timings down.

| Re: ASUS P6T Deluxe (x58/ ICH10R) . The Bios has three power management setting, SpeedStep, Enabled C1E, Enabled Intel C-State, Disabled I don't think you would want them all enabled. I think that it would be best to Disabled SpeedStep and C1E and Enable C-State. I think C-State is more advanced because it goes into C-States, C1, C2, and C3. What do you think? .

| Re: ASUS P6T Deluxe (x58/ ICH10R) Well, I was wrong. When I enable SpeedStep and C1E and disable C-State gives me lower idle temps and adds the processor settings in the Windows power management. The C-State has several modes that you can set at. I have not tested them. I only tested at auto. Both settings change the multiplier down to 12x and lower vcore from 1.2 to 1.18. But, SpeedStep and C1E gives me about 4 to 5c drop in CPU temp. One strange thing to me, I have a 3 pin CPU fan, the SpeedStep and C1E set-up increases the fan speed by almost 900 RPM. Just noticed that. I have the fan power plans disabled in the bios.

| Re: ASUS P6T Deluxe (x58/ ICH10R) Chuck can you do me a favor? Can you look in Device Manager at the I/O APIC controller under System Devices and see if there is a memory range conflict? One more thing too. Did you enable VT-d? From your experience so far, what do you think of the higher C states? Do you prefer them now compared to C1E? |
