Got another PIII 1Ghz. This time diff. stepping.

I just bought a new PIII 1Ghz, it's a SL52R stepping.

Runs on 1.75 volts.

Clocks to 1200mhz 160fsb just like my older SL4MF 1Ghz.

The diff. is that my old 1Ghz used 1.70 volts this one does 1.75.

I use 1.75 on this to get me to 1200, and 1.8 to get me to 1200 on my old 1Ghz.

I tend to like those cD0 stepped CPU:s.
I have 2 of the last one you have, cC0 will say.

LW,
Care to try that SL52R at 166 FSB....even if you have to turn memory down to CAS 3 or maybe change ratio 133:100:33.
Just curious how high it will run.

Tried 167 FSB, it loaded then Blue screened and had a kernel dump in Win2k. My other chip was similiar on this board. I may need to cool other components. But I am very happy with these two chips, they are very stable at 1200mhz CL-2-2-2. Without Mushkin Rev. 3+ , I wouldn't be this high.

1200 with stock cooling...impressive...I realize the Intel flip chip HSF are good but even that's above what I would expect. Guess I got a dud since I can't get over 149. Might be time to try a different mobo. Maybe on my BE6-II 2.0 or an IWILL.

Well, I just changed my "old" cCo stepper to a new cDo and sure enough right outta da plastic bag [OEM] standard HSF and 1.75v gets me 1200. Cool too 29 idle full load seems a couple of degrees lower too in bios, sits around 37-38.

I think Intel have definately started to respond to the AMD overhaul with this latest stepping. Don't get me wrong my retail SL4MF also got to 1200 but a lot more voltage was needed and it ran a bit hotter. I might just be tempted to try for more mHz with this one, but at the moment I am happy with stable 1200 [160/160/40]

Well, I've given up on the BP for the time being since it wouldn't go over 149 or so. Put my BE6-II 2.0 back in and got 400 more points in 3DM2001 at 6000 at 145 fsb versus 5650 at 149 fsb with the BP. Working on trying it at 150 with the BE6-II 2.0 now that my SK6 arrived yesterday. I guess I just had bad luck with my BP so it's back in the box.
