I would suspect that enables or disables the fractional part of the multiplier, so I would enable it.

I don't know what "unlinked" does in your bios. Perhaps when you unlink it selects a ratio other than 1:1, which might run the memory too fast. Or perhaps running a DDR2-667 at DDR2-884 speed makes the memory more sensitive to running "unlinked," whatever that may mean.

Re: My new game machine...

With UNLINKED I can set my FSB and Mem separate...like I did with my E6600, so 1556 FSB and 1167 Mem, gave the right RATIO.
CPU Freq. 3501.2
Multiplier 9X
FSB-Mem >> UNLINKED
RATIO >> auto
FSB 1556
Mem 1167

Think was 2:3 ratio !!

Can you still follow this NOOB

Hans

If you unlink and manually set 1:1, does it work ok at these same settings, with the memory at 884?

Re: My new game machine...

At the moment I have LINKED and SYNCED...CPU 4.2

In CPU-z I get 1:1 ratio with FREQ 442...I also have 4-4-4-12-1T now.

Highest score in 3D/05 so far >> 22760

Hans.

Only with LINKED I can set RATIO's >> 1:1 - 5:4 - 3:2 - Sync

UNLINKED it stays blue, can't change it anymore

Thanks, TQ, for your understanding.

Hans -- I would think then that you should be able to set specific memory clock rates in the bios, in unlinked mode (as opposed to ratios). If so, try setting to 442 MHz and see if you get results that are consistent with the linked mode. Assuming you do, I would think that the unlinked mode was using some default setting that was faster than 442 and that was too fast for the memory.

Regards,
-- Al

Re: My new game machine...

No worries. I like to see threads go all over the place...much like a real conversation would.
Putting an "OT" restriction on a conversation just isn't natural.

I wasn't suggesting that it's a bad thing, and the info presented is very interesting. I just really like the graphic.
