| Intel D975XBX or take a look at an ASUS P5 series. Bad Axe 2 will be oriented toward the Quadro Core 2 Duo chip (QX6700). Well I am finishing up a 4-day VHDL class at work. The instructor worked for Intel for 5yrs in Colorado on the Intel Itanium processor doing testing/validating of the Hyper-Threading feature. He said Itanium brought HT and dual-core to the u-processor so something good did come of that project. |

| Some Kentsfield info. The initial Kentsfield is spec'ed at 120W TDP. I heard that 120W is for the initial hand picked models. Later it'll be revised and all Kentsfield based models are gonna spec at 80W TDP. There will be LV versions for servers that reach 50W TDP. |

| Even at 120W for a quadcore, that comes to just 30W per core. Pretty dang impressive. |

| Intel D975XBX2(Bad Axe 2) review: http://www.vr-zone.com/?i=4111 Basic summary: -On board power button for fast, convenient bench testing -Support for Nvidia's EPP memory -Better power support and more optimal adjustments of circuit components -Performance adjustment options have its own category called "Performance" on the Tab, where on the BX1 you had to find so-called "Burn-In" to access it. -1.5 to 1.7V MCH voltage adjustment in 0.25V increments -1.2 to 1.5V FSB voltage adjustment in 0.25V increments -1.2875 to 1.6V CPU voltage adjustment in 0.0125V increments -Max FSB of 433MHz with the ability to adjust the FSB settings, with 1MHz increments, unlike BX1 which had to be adjusted by percentage base. -1.80 to 2.80V memory voltage adjustment in 0.04V increments Those kind of wide adjustment options seem make the previous notion that Intel motherboards aren't geared toward enthusiasts(specifically overclockers) all moot. -Graceful exit of crashed system due to aggressive OC Also mentioned is above. It must mean there should be less headaches now when you crash due to too much OC. Last edited by Intel_User; 10-08-2006 at 02:34 AM.. |

At least that's what the initial reports say anyway. Search for D975XBX and Kentsfield and you'll find reports of people running Kentsfield on the D975XBX. http://www.vr-zone.com/?i=4098 Then people may ask why make Bad Axe 2 anyway?? Because BX1 and BX2 is same chipset, BX2 is much better for enthusiasts and will make Intel much more competitive in that department. I can't really see why it shouldn't run on yours. | Of course not, that is the internal Intel release for the program. Kinda cool that it reads from the embedded diode. I wish that it would work for all non Core based processors. |

| I ran TAT on my C2D laptop for the heck of it. They arn't kidding about burning the cores hard. Went from a nice 32C idle to over 70C in no time. I shut it off, it was scaring me ![]()

| I have been very happy with it for the most part. Touch pad is fine. Kinda wish it had a side scroll but no big deal. It's kinda a pain to keep clean. The black glossy finish picks up prints easy and no way to open it without leaving some. Again a small thing. Also I wish the built in camera would switch around to shoot forward. You can only adjust it by moving the whole screen. Definately the fastest notebook I have ever used. I don't think it has ever locked up on anything. No real errors of any kind. The ultra brightview screen extra I put on it is very nice. Colors are very rich and it works well in bright light. Games are pretty sweet. It felt a little funny to be playing high end games on it. My old laptop could handle pong maybe. All in all I would buy it again.
