As far as your performance experiment goes, as long as both procs are the 512MB cache versions, my money's on the faster FSB w/1:1 memory, hands down, for any given cpu clock speed. This is strickly from a performance viewpoint. I realize your goal is to examine the price/performance ratios. ------ FWIW: I've got 512MB of Corsair TWINX PC4000 runnin' @ 257 FSB, using CAS 2.5 timings, with both turbo and MAM enabled, on my P4C800-E. Yep, CAS 2.5 @ 257 FSB ![]() Surprised the H*** outta' me, too! Took 2.85Vdimm, but manged to crack (just barely) 6K Sandara buffered. My other two sticks of TWINX PC4000 are also CAS 2.5, @ 243 FSB. Good stuff, this TWINX PC4000, IMNSHO. Would really love to see what the PC4400 can do w/a 2.4 'MO', but at four bills 'street price' just for the memory...yshhh...ridiculous...

Update: Just ordered an Intel board-refurbed for $60, regular price is $113. So now I can consider an 800fsb proc; however, HT will have to be disabled. Why did I purchase this mobo? Because a 1GB NIC is on average $40 and so $20 more I get the GB NIC (using CSA LAN) and can support the 800fsb proc and I get dual memory (even have the sticks for that).
