No, really it was almost clean. I had applied a a "string" the full length of the core.

A "string" of AS5? They recommend the size of a grain of rice in the centre. Actually take a look at the directions on www.arcticsilver.com. There is something there about applying some on teh proce and heat sink then removing it with a cloth before applying the rice size dab. I think this step is meant to fill in the tiny crevices with AS before applying the last bit.

I am using ASC. It might be thicker than AS5 and maybe it will hang around longer than AS5 (although I have never heard of AS5 doing a disappearing act - that's odd)

Yep I had already tried their method before and temps were too high. Just cannot understand why it went away. Do these things have a shelf life. I bought two tubes in August, I think it was?

Okay. FINALLY got a few pics up. The one with the Orange fans is my current setup. The one with the black fans is my old setup. The front fan in the 5.25" drive bay is gonna be covered with the drive bay cover (duh) once i can drill the same patter on the covers as the ones on the rest of my case. THere is a picture of my suspended HD, but i dont think it came out too well. They drives are really close toghether, I have to space them out again.

Does no one have unput on air cooling? Are you all on water or something. ANYthing to get this thread into some discussion would be nice. There are alot of coolers out there.

I can start by saying I hate thermaltake coolers :P They are all show and no go...

Ok I gotta a few questions regarding fans and a fan controller. I basically decided to go with 120mm Panflo's in the front (intake), back (exhaust), and top blowhole (exhuast) of my Lian-Li V1000. 2 Zalman VF700-CU, one for each of my 6800 Ultra's video cards, and Thermalright XP-120 with Panflo 120mm fan, as well as a Swiftech Northbridge cooler. I decided it would be wise to add a fan controller and the Cooler Master Aerogate 2 caught my eye. My question is which fans should I hook up to the fan controller, as it seems most fan controllers on the market only allow 4 fans to be connected. Also I originally planned for all of my Panflo's to be L1A Low Noise, but now that I am using a fan controller am I supposed to use higher Panflo's? Doesn't it even matter what Panflo's I use? I guess what I am asking is if I buy a L1A which is 1700rpms and hook it to a fan controller could I run it faster? Or am I supposed to buy a M1A or H1A and run it lower at 1700rpms? I assume you guys know what I mean.

........you can usually daisy chain at least 2 fans together on one controller. I have the 2 front on 1 and the 2 back on 1 so they are always on the same speed and I am only using 2 controllers........

Hmmm, so what sounds good? Both video cards on one contoller, processor HSF on another, front intake and back exhaust on the 3rd, and top blowhole on the 4th?

....its looks like the back-top-blowhole are using the same fan? If so, you can have them 3 on 1 controller. Its really up to your liking.........

The front intake, back exhaust, top blowhole exhaust, and processor HSF will all be Panflo 120mm fans.

Ok what about the other thing I was asking. Since I am using a fan controller what fans do I buy? Panasonic makes 3 Panflo's L1A, M1A, and H1A. What I was wondering is, is there a difference between those fans? I mean I was orginally planning on buying the Panflo L1A low noise fans which run at 1700rpms. Since I am buying a fan controller does this mean I should buy the H1A or M1A, and then run it at lower 1700rpms, so I have the option of turning it up? Is that how it works? I have never used a fan controller before. Does anyone understand what I am trying to say?

THe problem with some fans is that there is a clicking noise when you attach it to a fan controller, or...it jsut doesn't like to spin slow, it will jsut stop. I would go for an M1A. Theres a misconception that you have to have a windtunnel to have enough airflow. In reality, just a few CFM...okay..maybe a bit more...is enough to keep your systems cool enough. Many people with the same case we have RangersFan use the orange Nexus fan without a fan controller, then get a higher CFM fan for the CPU and control it using a program such as speed fan. I think AMD has something like cool 'n quiet right? It really depends on waht you are going to be doing with the thing and how much, if at all, your going to OC it.

Pic's are interesting.....upsidedown mombo. Just wondering, does this go along with the "heat rises theory"? Been a long time since I air cooled. Very interesting.
