E6600 temps

Just installed a new heatsink on my E6600 and have it overclocked to 3.0. My temps are running about 45-46 at idle right now and at about 59-60 at after about an hour of prime 95. Seems kind of high to me so I reinstalled the heatsink after cleaning it up and putting on some AC MX2 compound. Temps still about the same. Should I try reinstalling it again or are those temps ok?

Re: E6600 temps

Those temps are not that bad especially since you're overclocking. Some might say they are a little bit warm but I wouldn't worry too much about it.

My E8400 idles at around 44 and I'm not concerned.

Thanks Brian. My temps are a little better today but it is also cooler outside than yesterday. My system is seems to be 100% stable, I just didn't want to start any fires!

Ambient temp will make a difference in air cooling and even water cooling.
Also some cpu thermal grease needs time to settle in.

Re: E6600 temps

What program are you using to report temperature. What Tjmax setting is said program using. If Tjmax is set incorrectly reported temps will be off.
Since you got the same temps after reinstalling the heatsink a 2nd time I doubt you have a problem.

Smile Re: E6600 temps

Tried core temp , speed fan and cpuid hardware monitor and they all read about the same. I hate to try and install the heatsink again kind of a pain in the *****! It's an Artic Freezer 7 Pro and it is a tight fit

Re: E6600 temps

Try Realtemp: Real Temp - CPU temperature monitoring

And read its installation and calibration notes for explanations of why it might be more accurate than the others for some cpu's.
