MX-2 not ??

Using 1.400 Vcore now...CPU 4.2 after some hours ORTHOS >> MAX temp= 65C

Re: E8500 Temps ??

Two suggestions:

-- See what the cpu case (not core) temperature is. SpeedFan can show you that:

SpeedFan - Access temperature sensor in your computer

-- See what the core temps are at stock speed and voltage, with full load.

If all of these numbers are good, then your cooling is good, and the 66 degC would be attributable to the voltage increase and the overclock. Primarily the voltage increase -- core temps increase very rapidly with voltage.

Edit: On my system, with an E8400, I did not see any significant change in temperature as the AS5 burned in.

Re: E8500 Temps ??

BLEND with ORTHOS....PC running for six hours now, busy testing and trying settings I mean not ORTHOS !!
Did not put my system just on, if you know what I mean.

LOAD:

System -65C
CPU 57C
AUX 34C
HDO 28C
HD1 28C
Core 0 goes from 58C to 60C and back to 58C...and so on.
Core 1 goes from 58C to 60C and back to 58C...and so on.
Core 46C

Any good ??

All this done with 4.2 overclocking and 1.41 Vcore BIOS.

Re: E8500 Temps ??

That looks about right with the voltage your putting in there.I wouldn't go much higher on the voltage on a 45nm chip.Do you run it that way all the time or just for benchmarks ?Anyway you do have a good overclock.

E8500: Tcase Max 72c, Stepping C0, TDP 65w
Tcase 72c case temps of cpu
Tjmax 85c core temps of cpu
Tcase/Tjunction- scale
--70--/--75--75-- Hot
--65--/--70--70-- Warm
--60--/--65--65-- Safe
--25--/--30--30-- Cool

Re: E8500 Temps ??

Ignore the -65C reading; that represents something the program is trying to monitor that isn't provided to it in the hardware. I'm pretty certain that "core" is the core of your graphics card. "CPU" is the case temp of the cpu. Core 0 and 1 are the core temps of the cpu, of course.

Yes, I would see what temps you get at stock voltage and clock rate. Also measure the core temps with Realtemp, which is more accurate as we discussed in the other thread.

Re: E8500 Temps ??

ctal is right on using Realtemp. On that 45nm chip, Realtemp will be more accurate.

edit : I don't really see a bad problem with your temps. No matter what software you use.Your post below looks even better.

Yes, doesn't look bad indeed

My videocard is running 636/1007...without problems, 46C IDLE.

Load with rthDRIBL around 51C I think, also not bad

Bought me a Accelero Xtreme 8800 from ARCTIC, works fantastic !!!!!!!!
Difference, I think 8C lower in comparison with the default cooler.

Re: E8500 Temps ??

Yes, that looks good. My own experience with an E8400, after performing the Realtemp calibration procedure and introducing offsets into SpeedFan to bring its numbers into line with Realtemp, indicated that true core temperatures under overclocked conditions under load, at Vcore = 1.35V, were 10 degC less than SpeedFan initially indicated. Which would put you at Tcore = 49 degC for full load at 4.2 gHz at Vcore = 1.41V. Not bad at all!

My results are in post 34 of this thread: My New Build

Just to be sure, though, did you apply the AS5 per their website's directions for Intel dual cores (meaning applying it in a line between where the two cores are), rather than just in the center of the cpu as should be done for single cores?

Change it or with these results, leave it the way it is ??

I'd say that it's anyone's guess. I don't know how much of a difference it would make, or if applying it in the center might result in localized hotspots near the edges that would not be detected by the temperature sensors. Here are the relevant instructions should you decide to redo it:
