Get the retail unless you want to mod a OEM card to reach the same potential as the retail.
The retail is a 275/275 mhz core

The OEM's are 250/250 mhz. You can mod it to get 275/275.

You're right about the driver issue too KillRoy. That killed the initial impression for the 8500. I guess both you and bajo are the ones laughing all the way to the bank now considering the price of GF3 Ti500's...

My Radeon works well on Athlon XP1600+ and Epox 8KHA+ with the new bios 8khi2116 under WinXP. I am using the latest beta bios modded by Omega. It's Omega Drive 1.1.18 and is based on the latest Radeon beta 6.13.10.6018 driver. I am also using the Rad3D Tweak 3.0 Beta 4. Here's the score that I got with my PowerColor Radeon 8500 LE (default clock core/memory is 250/240). Btw, my Radeon only cost US$ 175.
