| How low can you get Cooling P4 3.06 o/c to 3.495 at 1.55v with SLK 900 in combo with 92m Tornando fan on a P4G8X deluxe mobo Temps: 36c/96f Ambient air: 29c I get super cool air in the winter, rig on the floor in basement and using the new version of the Asus probe for readings. Here's a few questions... How low can air can temps go another words can I upgrade my thermal paste or heatsink to get even lower temps? Which will do more damage to my cpu overvolting or heat? I want to really push it but if the cpu is staying fairly cool will 1.65 or higher start to damage the cpu? Last edited by roberta_abx; 12-07-2003 at 08:37 AM.. |

| After doing some research I will answer my own questions for people who need to know! 1.35c is about rock bottom on air for an overclocked cpu (using Asus Probe software) 2.Probably not (getting lower temps) 3.Overvolting, you can control heat disapation thru cooling plus cpu will automaticly shut down when to hot as certain temp is reached 4.Yes, overvolting shortens life of cpu (chip design calls for1.55v as standard) running at higher specs then is called for on chip voltage (hence the term fried chip) 5.All readings were obtained with Asus Probe software which we all know is not calibrated correctly 6. Example: Asus probe software reads 35c/98f motherboard bios reads 32c/90f 3c degrees difference, bios readings tend to reflect more accurate temps on my system Last edited by roberta_abx; 01-04-2004 at 09:17 AM.. |

| I was wondering, are you aware of MBM5 ? you can get a little more accurate readings of your temps and your cpu status better than that Asus probe which is usually off by 4to5c and without having to get into your bios to get readings. its got a dashboard thingy that is pretty convenient |

| Charles thanks for the reply and yes I tried MBM and readings are still off. The bios reference for temps is the curve(3c lower) so to speak I use to figure out the true temps. All I can say is my cpu is running pretty frosty on air(32c)while being overclocked |

| Well the temps that your processor at idle seems really good and yes even MBM5 is alittle off also. Nothing to worry about. my temps with my P-4 3.0c with the Zalman-7000a al/cu HS is at 40 to 43c so, you are all right.Geez I'm gonna have to get a Thermalright cooler myself. |

| I was going to take a screen shot of this when I was gaming over the weekend, but I was at a LAN at a friends house on Sat night. The air temp outside was 2-5F. They left the patio door open a few inches to let in some cool air, and I was the one that was sitting right next to it. My case temp was around 15C, and my cpu temp at full load was around 21-23C. I wish that I would have either gotten a screen print, or tried to OC even more. Yeah!!!!!!!!!!

| Very good!as did I, and came to the conclusion that either the Slk947-U or the SP-94? (the one with the heatpipes)the only thing though is having to mount the backplate on, big hassle if you have mobo in the case already, since I'm going to replace my Gigabyte 8KNXP rev.1 with a rev.2 I might as well get the 947-U with it, so Hmm. is'nt researching fun?very time consuming though.I guess that the I have been alittle slack I did'nt see that thermalright came out with the newer version of the 947-U until recently.
