Angry P4e 3.4GHz and Zalman CNPS9500 LED too hot???

Hi

I do not know whether this is a problem or not. My socket 478 Prescott with AS5 idles at 48c-50c. It is in a Lian-Li PC-61 with 4 80mm fans. Will buying a Zalman CNPS7700-CU help or a new case?

Thanks
NBK

That is pretty hot for idle temps, i would would remove the cpu fan and clean it and redo the AS5 too see if that brings down the temp. When i had my P4 3.4e with the zalman 7000 it ran 38-40 C at idle.

Angry

Hi

After reapplying AS5, the 3.4e idles at 47C-48C. I will check it again after the AS5 has time to settle.

Thanks

Thanks for responding SRTDodge05,

Took the side of Lian-Li PC-61 off and it now idles at 42C-44C. Should i buy another Lian-Li case?

Its up to you if you really want to spend the money, cheaper way is to try better fans.

Thanks once again,

I will probably rather live with the heat than the noise.

How have you applied the AS5? Gotta have just one little grain on the center, and push the heatsink down on that so it spreads in a circle ....

I replaced the filter on my p60 with an aluminium mesh grill which was cut from the mesh sold for auto body repairs. The new grill dropped temps while still doing a good job of keeping dust out.
Try running without the filter for an hour or so and see if temps are improved.

BTW, the 7700 would give you worse temps than the 9500 unless the 9500 was defective.
