| question on cpu temps? hello, been away for a while and trying to catch up. just put together a board with a e6750 chip in it. No over clock yet. first core 2 duo. put a zalman 9700led on it with as5 for cooling and using speedfan as the monitoring program. at idle the cpu temp is about 35-37 and 100% load after couple of hours are 46-48. core 1 and core 2 temps generally run together. at idle about 19 and under 100% load about 30-31. question is this, should i be concerned with the cpu temp more or the core temps? personally, i thought the zalman would do better than this reading about all of the 28 degree idle temps. but it is what it is i guess.

| Re: question on cpu temps? I dont know if speedfan fixed the problem in there software but it reports the temps 15c lower. |

Core Temp Oh and temps are off about 15c as SRTDodge05 said, they read low. So load temps are 61-63 C.

| Re: question on cpu temps? While probably within operating spec, I don't like my CPU temps over 50 deg C, unless I lived in Dubai of someplace like that. |

| Re: question on cpu temps? so let's see if i understand this, looking at core temp. the temps i need to be concerned with is the individual core temps since that is all that is showing? and there was a large difference in temps. right now at 100% load, 2 instances of folding@home running, i have 34-36 and 31-33 degrees respectively on core temp with a t junction of 85degrees which remains constant and the cpu temp that speedfan was showing doesn't mean anything.

On a side note all software based temp, voltage readings etc. are questionable at best. If you want to calibrate your temp readings or learn more about Tjunction etc. read this. It will make you strain you brain so be warned. http://www.tomshardware.com/forum/22...perature-guide

| Re: question on cpu temps? the idle temps on the cores are 18-20. speedfan was showing that though on the idle temps per core and the same temps on the cores at load. reading the web page for core temp says it takes it's readings from the dts in each core and hence supposed to be more accurate. i will look at the link you pasted.

| Re: question on cpu temps? the link you posted is pretty involved and just may be a next sunday afternoon project. while i think my unit is running fairly cool, i understand it is probably off on the measurements these programs are showing until i can do a proper calibration. the link they had posted on thermal paste kinda of blows the myth about arctic silver also doesn't it.
