Question ZALMAN CNPS9700 LED Owners???

Hi

How in the world do clean the caked up dust on the fins? I tried 'canned air' to no avail...Is it possible? I have no desire to buy another one!

Thanks
NBK

Re: ZALMAN CNPS9700 LED Owners???

Had the same issue with my ZERO-Therm products. I took some q-tips and mashed the ends down, dampened them with some alcohol and painstakingly cleaned every fin. They do give a little.

May not be the most time effective way but worked for me.

If some one has a better way please share, and good luck NBK.

Hi darkstar_abx,

Did you remove the HSF from the motherboard to clean it?

Thanks

Re: ZALMAN CNPS9700 LED Owners???

One on the M/B, not fun and not as efficient and one off the M/B ( new build, old case and cooler ).

Even if you just remove the M/B from the case, the heatsink should be sufficiently exposed for cleaning of this kind.

Take care of the fingers, those fins are razor sharp.

Re: ZALMAN CNPS9700 LED Owners???

I run my finger across the fins, while holding a small vacuum cleaner near.

If that's not enough, I use a half-inch paint brush with the vacuum cleaner.

Re: ZALMAN CNPS9700 LED Owners???

I use a generic small vacuum cleaner with a flexible hose, AC powered.

90 psi from my air compressor does the trick for me
once every 6-8 weeks take case outside and
give her good dusting

Same as above just make sure you keep the fan from turning, you could damage it. I also use Alcohol and q-tips to clean the tight areas.
