| I can't paly any DVD's on my just recently build Cusl2-c computer and just get error messages. Both with PowerDVD and ATI Radeon DVD Player. With power DVD I get error message saying can't support current display mode. I have tried various combinations but no luck ATI DVD Player gives me three possible error messages 1. Audio device in use or not installed 2. Diplay overlay is not available 3. Not enough video memory. specs: Windows 2000 SP2 Culs2-C PIII 1 Ghz 512 MB Crucial Ram ATI Radeon 32MB VE NEC 5700 DVD 12x HP CD/RW 10/4/32 SB Live 5.1 MP3+ Intel NIC USR/3com 2976 56k Harware Modem any suggestions? thank you in advance BD |

| Is your DVD in the secondary master position? Sounds like it could also be a driver problem. Did you install monitor drivers? Latest drivers for all? IRQ conflicts?

| The DVD player is the primary master. There are IRQ conflics and all my cards are on IRQ 9. I just performed a clean install last night and all cards still share IRQ 9. The DVD playback is the only thing that is not working properly otherwise my system is fine. I have tried to play DVD's on two different monitors but no luck. I think I have the lastes monitor drivers installed. Also I was able to use DVD palyback once, before I formatted my HD last night. thanks BD |

| Bad IRQs If all cards are using IRQ 9, then something is really wrong. Make sure PnP OS=YES is set in BIOS. and PCI Steering is enabled. (from My Computer, right click, properties, System Device, PCI BUS). I assume you did not remove ACPI when installing Windows which means it is enabled. You should provide more info like which card is in which slot ? What is the 1st IDE master, slave, 2nd IDE master, slave, BIOS version, any Intel ATA driver ?? |

| Hey BD & welcome If every thing is working fine on irq 9 i would not wory about it. Thats WINDOWS for ya now. But as for the dvd i would use primary master for the harddrive- secondary master for the dvd and the cdr as secondary slave. Give this a try and see what happens. Peace Ed |

| Don't worry about all PCI devices on IRQ 9. It's Windows 2000 and ACPI in action, and it's actually a GOOD thing as long as your hardware is ACPI compliant. As for the DVD, I would have to say it sounds to me like a display driver problem. I would completely remove the current display drivers, go to ATI and get the latest WIN2k drivers for that card and install them. You may also need to reinstall the multimedia application software with current updates for Win2k. Then try watching the DVD at 1024 x 768 resolution.

| Bad IRQ, Bad IRQ !!!!! IRQ is Interrupt ReQuest line. When too many devices share the same line, problems are proned to occur. It is as simple as that. The following is a list of IRQs in my system: IRQ 0 System timer OK IRQ 1 Standard 101/102-Key or Microsoft Natural Keyboard OK IRQ 2 Programmable interrupt controller OK IRQ 3 Communications Port (COM2) OK IRQ 4 Communications Port (COM1) OK IRQ 5 ACPI IRQ Holder for PCI IRQ Steering OK IRQ 5 ACPI IRQ Holder for PCI IRQ Steering OK IRQ 5 HSP56 WDM DEVICE OK IRQ 5 Creative AudioPCI (ES1371,ES1373) (WDM) OK IRQ 6 Standard Floppy Disk Controller OK IRQ 7 ECP Printer Port (LPT1) OK IRQ 8 System CMOS/real time clock OK IRQ 9 SCI IRQ used by ACPI bus OK IRQ 9 ACPI IRQ Holder for PCI IRQ Steering OK IRQ 9 ACPI IRQ Holder for PCI IRQ Steering OK IRQ 9 Intel(r) 82801BA/BAM USB Universal Host Controller 1 OK IRQ 9 Intel(r) 82801BA/BAM USB Universal Host Controller 2 OK IRQ 10 ACPI IRQ Holder for PCI IRQ Steering OK IRQ 10 Intel(r) 82801BA/BAM SMBus Controller - 2443 OK IRQ 11 ACPI IRQ Holder for PCI IRQ Steering OK IRQ 11 Rage Fury Pro/Xpert 2000 Pro OK IRQ 12 PS/2 Compatible Mouse Port OK IRQ 13 Numeric data processor OK IRQ 14 Intel(r) 82801BA Ultra ATA Controller OK IRQ 14 Primary Ultra ATA controller OK IRQ 15 Intel(r) 82801BA Ultra ATA Controller OK IRQ 15 Secondary Ultra ATA controller OK My system: CUSL2-C, Rev 1.02, Bios 1006A Final WinMe, Celeron 633@902, 256MB PC133 Micron SDRAM 1st Primary : Maxtor ATA100 40Gig 1st slave: Ricoh RW 12x/10x/32x 2nd Primary: Western Digital ATA66 30Gig 2nd Slave: Prime ATA33 12x DVD AGP ATI Rage Fury Pro 32MB VIVO Slot 2: Modem 56K Slot 6: Creative Ensoniq sound I have PnP OS=YES, ACPI enabled, PCI Steering enabled, STandby/Hibernate enabled, SuspendToRam enabled and all is stable: gaming, video editing, movie, music, standby/hibernating ... In short, look at the manual and rearrange your card in unshared slots. Move cards in slots 4,5 into slots 2,3 and do not reserve any IRQ. Make sure PCI 2.1 is enabled in Chip Advanced Menu |

| Maybe my problem is related to your problem. Here is a paste of what I sent to ATI technical support, although judging by the insane number of problems I've had with my CUSL2-C BP motherboard, I believe it's motherboard related. Anyone have any ideas? I am using an ATI All-In-Wonder 128 Pro 32MB AGP 4X card under Windows 2000 (Service Pack 2) using driver version 5.13.1.192. When I play a DVD movie in ATI DVD Player (4.1.0.0), once the movie hits a certain part of the disc, usually around the 30 minute mark or so, the disc resets back to the beginning (Chapter selection). This happens with all DVD discs. I AM able to play DVDs just fine using Cyberlink PowerDVD, but not with ATI's player, as the problem I just mentioned occurs. I tried uninstalling all ATI software, reinstalling the drivers & DVD (with & without the rest of the Multimedia Center installed) with no success. Microsoft's Windows Update site has an updated video driver listed (Rage 128 Pro - V. 6.52-010410M), I installed that, but that only made problems worse. After installing this driver ATI DVD Player would not run DVD discs at all (I would get this error: "1. Audio device in use or not installed 2. Diplay overlay is not available 3. Not enough video memory.") PLUS even CyberLink's player would not function correctly -- all DVD movies were in black & white, no color! I have since uninstalled that newer driver and reverted back to the older one and these extra problems went away. The problem of not being able to play a full DVD movie with the ATI DVD Player still remains. Please note that under Windows Me I was able to play DVDs fine, but since putting Windows 2000 on here, no such luck. The PC I am using has recently been upgraded by myself (new Asus CUSL-C BP i815EP motherboard, P3/1GHz processor, Linksys LNE100TX network card, 256MB PC133 SDRAM). Prior to the upgrade, I had used both Windows 2000 & Windows Me and had no DVD troubles. Aside from what I mentioned above, my hardware & software configuration was identical. This is the first time I'm using Windows 2000 on this upgraded machine and now I'm having these troubles. |

| I discovered the Plextor Manager 2000 software I had installed can cause problems with certain DVD software. Updated to latest version, problem resolved. |
