Question Formating one drive of RAID0

Hi
Want to use one of my maxtor drives which was a VIA Raid0 as a spare drive in my system. (Now using SATA Raid0.

However i am inable to format it (cause its unrecognisable. half a raid0) in XP. How can i recover and format it so I can then use it as a single duive

Ta

An idea:

1. Boot using a DOS boot disc. Format. It'll have to be FAT32. You can make a DOS boot disc by right-clicking the floppy drive in XP, selecting "Format" and specifying "Create an MS-DOS startup disk". Or you can download a boot disc from http://www.bootdisk.com/.

2. Reformat the disc as NTFS from within XP.

Another thought - do you still have the other disc? If so, connect it to the other channel of the RAID controller and, on reboot, reset the discs to non-RAID.

Try using disk management, click Start - Run - compmgmt.msc. Maybe you can whack the partition are recreate it.

This has been a nightmare.
To cut a long story short as its bed time.

Now got it formatted but no matter what I do will only format as NTFS.

I am selling it so wanna do it as FAT32
Any clues ?
Been on this nearly all day.

Its now in the via connector. just woulnt have it on the IDE kept wanting to be the boot drive even though my SATA RAID0 was set up as boot

wait... did you use the boot rom to delete the raid ?

also try pluging them in the intel sata ports instead (if you can)

Its an IDE connector so I have to stick with the VIA connectors or IDE.

Still as my previous post. ie
Now formatted & working of my VIA connector as a single drive but want to format as FAT32 but it wont let me

Strange thing - When I connect an ide drive to the ide connectors (Pri Master) it defaults to that being the boot drive. (My SATA RAID0 are the Boot). Confusing. I thought that if I could get it to work on the normal IDE connectors it might let me do a FAT32 format. plus id rather connect it here than on the VIA as it keeps it all tidy

Thanks for the replies
