P4C800 E Deluxe and promise controller

I have posted the question about my P4C800 E Deluxe and promise controller on the intel chipsets tread. Maybe this tread is more to my problem.

Hope someone here can help.

First, I did clean installed XP sp2 and got everything to work. This included windows update to sp3. The only problem is that the promise controller is not working. I have used the following drivers from asus site and promise tech support emailed me.

Promise FastTrak 378 RAID Driver V1.00.1.37 for Windows 98SE/NT4/ME/2000/XP/2003
Promise FastTrak 378 RAID Driver V1.00.1.30 for Windows NT4.0/98/ME/2000/XP
Promise FastTrak 378 ATA Driver V1.00.1.30 for Windows NT4.0/98/ME/2000/XP
Promise -FastTrak 378 RAID Driver 1.00.0.23
And
Fasttraks150 TS2plus Driver

Nothing works.

I then reformat again, this time I only have xp sp2 only. I have neither update windows nor installing lan, sound etc... JUST XP SP2.

I have used all the above drivers again, still no luck. same problem.
Device manager states: "This device cannot start (Code 10)".

I check bios during booting up and it shows.

SATA378 TX2plus (tm) Bios version 1.00.0.33

DO Samsung 150 Ultra DMA 7
D1 ST32200821A Ultra DMA 5

IDE Bus Mast Enabled.

Prior formatting, the promise controller is working and I use it for IDE save data drive.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Re: P4C800 E Deluxe and promise controller

Hello Btv94: Last weekend I took my P4C800 E Dlx out of mothballs and fired it up. I have four old rapters on it. I used WD Diag to test the hard drives and wipe them. I then loaded WinXP slipstreamed SP 3 on the Intel RAID0, then loaded the Promise drivers Promise FastTrak 378 RAID Driver V1.00.1.37 for Windows 98SE/NT4/ME/2000/XP/2003, and updated everything, but had a big issue with downloading IE8. There was a file missing. MS sent me the file and my machine works nearly as well as my P5E3 Premium, though much noisier with the older fans and drives.
I gave it to my brother.
The promise drivers always gave me headaches and I advised my brother about that. In fact, over the years I used the board, two different WD rapters died on the promise controller; of course, WD replaced them for free. I had no problems at all with the intel controller. I make sure to have the latest Intel chipset and ata manager loaded.
Wish you luck on getting that promise controller working correctly again.
B.
