Hello there, I was wondering if anyone can help me?..I have recently bought an Asus Cusl2-C board P-3 800mhz

My DvD seems to have choppy video playback it slowly jumps from moment to moment..it never did this with my Older P-2 300 mhz board....I was wondering if anyone has any idea or have had the same problem...?

I also cant seem to get my Areal Monster Sound II running on it iether..says my Sound Card is not plugged in and Joystick and soundcard may not work....

I run Win 98
224 Mgs Ram
Creative Encore DVD-5 dxr2
Monster Sound II mx 300
Intel P-3 800mgz

Any help would be appriciated.

Thanks =(

If you are using the DXR2 decoder card you need to enable VGA palette looping in BIOS.

Reserve IRQ 5 for the Monster in BIOS too and reserve legacy operation for it. Read the manual for the board and it will tell you where.

also, did you install the Intel chipset drivers for the board? i heard this can make it not recognise hardware very well.

I'm not sure if this applies to decoder cards, but have you enabled DMA for the DVD Drive?

I would also make sure that the DVD drive is on a seperate IDE port than your paging HD.

Well, I tried Enabling the VGA palette Snoop, changed the dmv, for the DVD...I have my chipset installed..should I uninstall it?

I still cant get it to work..I had reformatted the other day and broefly had Win ME on it..and it worked perfectly..but when I tried to use to use it last night it was bad agaiin..I dont know if this is a driver conflict or IRQ...no conflict seems to appear...

I am at a loss....

Is there any know compatability problesm with the Asus Cusl-2-C board?

My system is:
Win 98
P-III 800 mhz
224 Megs Ram
AGP Voodoo 3500 tv in/out
Creative Encore 5x drx 2 decoder DVD
Monster Sound II mx 300

Im really at a loss...

Smile

Not sure if I can help, but I suggest

1. go with WinMe as the pre-condition. WinMe is far better and has stable i815E native chipset drivers in it. Win98 is buggy unless it is 2nd Edition (SE).

2. If you have Intel ATA driver, make sure it is 6.10, if not uninstall it and make sure DMA box is checked for all devices. By the way, does your DVD do ATA33 aka ATAPI (DMA mode 2) ? If not, I am not surprised that it is choppy.

I have my 12x ATAPI Prime DVD on same channel with my only harddrive (Pri Master) and CD-RW on Second Master, no problem at all.

My system: CUSL2-C Rev 1.02 Bios 1006A, WinMe
Celeron 633@921, volt=1.80v, 256MB Micron PC133
PnP OS=Yes, Power Management=Enabled, STR=Enabled
Make sure PCI 2.1 support=YES, Chipset latency timer=enabled,
PCI latency = 16 or higher

Maxtor 40Gig ATA100, 1st master
Prime ATAPI 12x DVD, 1st slave
Ricoh CD-RW 12x/10x/32x, 2nd master
ATI Rage Fury Pro AGP 32MB 4x/2x VIVO
Actiontek PCI modem 56L slot 2
Creative Ensoniq slot 6
