Re: quick question on laptop hdd's

I'm not sure exactly what you want to do but you can use an external laptop hard drive enclosure in order access the laptop hard drives via USB.

I'd post a link as an example but this forum won't allow me lol.

Re: quick question on laptop hdd's

Laptop HD get power from cable attachment. If you google you should be able to find which pins. USB ports only can supply a limited amount of power. If your Laptop hd requires more than the USB port can supply then you will not be able to read the drive. Some USB adpters/external HD enclosures provide a second cable for attaching to a second USB port to get enough power.

I have a couple of usb to 2.5/3.5 cable adapters and they work fine both on 2.5/3.5 hds.

If all else fails buy and inexpensive external case and put the laptop drive in it and try it that way.

You can get one from CompUSA/TigerDirect store for about $10.

When your thru you now have an inexpensive external HD.
