Post Tape drive problems

(is this the right forum?)

I just installed a Seagate Hornet tape drive (20gig). For some reason my machine looks during tape retension (eventually). Has any comes across this? Any ideas?

Using Win2k? If so, read this about SCSI patch:

ALso, check the DIP switches on the tape drive and make sure you have proper termination and that you are using S/W listed as approved for tape operation for that drive.

Arrow Tape drive problems

It's actually an IDE tape drive. I have it hooked up to a regular IDE. I suppose I could try hooking it up to the ata100 controller.

The problem takes place after a long access to the tape drive, and then sometimes I get the blue screen of death. And then when I hit enter, sometime the BSOD goes away and it continues. So bizarre.

You may want to read in the IDE/Controller section as there have been lots of IDE issues resolved there...
