Wireless-n speeds with WPA2 only?

I was having terrible problems with my internal broadcom wireless-g on my paviallion laptop, so I decided to buy a wireless express card and disable the internal wifi. I got the wireless-n card since my router is wireless-n. I connected and was only getting wireless-g speeds. I call Belkin customer service and they tell me that since I am using 128 WEP encryption not WPA2 I won't be able to recieve -n speeds. Is this true?

It shouldn't be???

If anything, WPA2 should slow you down more than WEP if I had to guess. I know once when I was on the phone with tech support for Lynksis, they wanted me to go back to WEP to improve speeds. I flatly told them no, because it was not even remotely secure.

Re: Wireless-n speeds with WPA2 only?

Some N's are not compatible and some even are crippled when not using WPA. This can be read at Small Net Builder.
