| Adding 1gig of memory to a P4C800-E Deluxe? About 1 1/2 yearts ago I built a system using a ASUS P4C800-E Deluxe. I installed 1G of Crucial ram using this ram -- CT6464Z40B.16T. This is a double sided 512 chip with 8 chips located on both sides for a total of 16 chips. It appears a though Crucial does not make this same memory anymore. The stick's now are single sided with only 8 chips. My question is this, can I mix them or would I be better to replace all the memory with 2 ea. 1G sticks? I tried to look through the threads here in the memory section for a answer to this question, but could not find the answer. Thanks for your help and suggestions. Lon

| You can try to find memory with the same spec's as yours now using, different brands shouldnt matter long as they run at the same timing. also you can try to sell your 1gb kit you have now and buy 2x1024 kit.

| There is no way to know if mixed and matched DIMMs will run together until you install and test. And, you will be mixing ICs so that increases the chances of problems. So, if it won't run together, you are stuck with 2 sets of memory you cannot run together. Your safest route is the 2 x 1gb as suggested above.

| I can tell you that trying to run a single sided dimm and a dual sided dimm of the same timings and specification will not work on an 875P motherboard. I have tried with 4 different sticks of Crucial ram.

| lrTrees, I built my current PC around the same time you did. I ran into the same thing you have. There was a revision to your memory some where along the line since we bought this ram. I am using the exact ram you are looking for Crucial # CT6464Z40B.8T2 which I bought new from Crucial back when I built this PC. I will be removing these two sticks and will offer them for sale if your interested. 2X512 PC3200 Timing 3.0-3-3-8 |
