FYI: P5KR w/ 4x1GB Crucial Ballistix

Hi,

I've had a lot of help from this forum and from the guys at Crucial, so I just want to feed back my experience in case it's of use to anyone else.

I had a lot of probs when I added a second 2x1GB DDR1066 DIMMS to my PC. I got it stable, but had to run at a slower memory speed of DDR890. I lowered the memory timings however, and I'm getting equivalent sppeds in Sisoft Sandra with the slower clock speed but lower timings - as I did at DDR1066 speed (I was able to but and run the tests at DDR1066, it's just that XP crashed every once in awhile, and memtest and Prime95 always showed errors.

I've read that a faster memory speed is always better, but it seems my bandwidth and latency scores are just as good - so here are my settings. This is rock solid and runs memtest+ or Prime95 all night without erros.

P5KR
4 x 1GB PC8500 (DDR1066) Crucial Ballistix (gold)
FSB 266
memory speed DDR890
memory voltage 2.2V
nb voltage 1.55V
memory timings 4-4-4-12

sisoft settings attached. The "normal" 890MHz settings are 5-5-5-15
