General DDR3 availability at retails (US & EU)?

Hi

I'm not sure if this is the right place to post this, if it isn't i'm sorry.

Anyway...i've ordered a Corsair 4Gb (2x2Gb) DDR3 1600Mhz kit...that was at the end of november. You've guessed it, i'm still waiting.
I also tried to order it elsewhere but had no luck.

I've also ordered a QX9650, that was available after 10 days so i don't see how such a delay can be possible. I once had to wait a few months for a geforce, but at that time i remember reading about nvidia shipping only very few boards and that there was no way to find them in stores.
I didn't hear nothing like that about DDR3 so i'm really wondering why i have to wait probably 2 months for my DDR3 kit

I just wanted to know if i missed some news and if anyone knows if these delays are standard for DDR3 at the moment.
I'm really getting mad about this...i've got all my stuff ready waiting for the memory

Thanks!

Who did you order it from?

I have been researching DDR3 RAM over the last month or so. So have a few other ABX Buds.

I remember reading somewhere that the 2 gig sticks are rare or not made yet. Same with anything faster than 1800. Something to do (I think) with the engineering design on them. That's what happens when you're looking at the cutting edge/bleedin' edge of technology. On a better note, one gig sticks are around in sufficient supply.

Re: General DDR3 availability at retails (US & EU)?

I live in italy, so i get them through local online resellers.
Many of them show DDR3 sticks (1gb or 2gb sticks) as "available at external warehouse" or stuff like that, with an average shipment time of a few days or up to a week. I ordered the same kit at two different shops, both told me (after delaying the shipment) that the suppliers can't deliver these kits before 18th january.
Even in germany resellers don't seem to have these sticks.

What i don't understand is why the suppliers tell the resellers they have DDR3 available when they do not. I don't see the advantage, they just look very unprofessional to me.

Anyway thank you for the info traveler
