so do you think that the OCZ would be the best value for the money? I had some corsair ram that i liked, but i always wished i could get more speed from it.

got some Corsair 4400c25
guess what i can do with this ram? boot up at 250x10 1:1 1.4vcore 2.7vdimm 2.5-3-3-8 timings.

OCZ's customer support is awesome, but i have had so much bad luck with them, i switched to the corsair above today and it is working great at 1:1 250mhz

I also found some Patriot PC4000 for 20 buck less per chip. they are cas3 instead of cas2...

I think I am getting all hung up trying to find TCCD or some notable chip type. I am I worrying about the chip type too much since I am more concerned with the clock speed than the timings?

you might be, TCCx generally does best on A64 systems since it can clock higher than anything else.

actually now that i think about it, you can't run 4x512 @ DDR 400 can you? i thought the manual states that if you do run 4 double sided sticks, it will default to DDR333 speeds.

your best best is to try and find some nice 1Gb sticks, then run a higher multiplier and a lower fsb speed. cpu cycles are king on A64, but additional memory bandwidth is nice as well.

How is Geil ram these days? I was not happy with it when i had 512 pc2700 on my p4s8x

It seems like all the 2 gig sets are only available in pc3200. at least from OCZ and Corsair. or else they are DDR2. I dont know what to do.

I have also been reading over at dfi-street.com that Gold VX sticks haven't been playing very nice with the DFI nForce4 boards. Also remember you might have to apply more voltage than usual if populating all 4 memory banks as some of the sticks might be starved for voltage if you set it too low. Good luck with your decision.
