| Which Memory? Hi everyone, What is the best Memory out there? I am going to make a big upgrade soon more likely end of March because nearly everything is coming out then, and I have been looking at the P5N32-SLI DELUXE, NVIDIA 7900, CPU THE 900 SERIES AND MEMORY? Any suggestions will be appreciated |

| Are you wanting 1gb or 2gb and do you plan to run 2 DIMMs or 4 DIMMs? I have not studied the memory reviews recently on DDR2 as I have not been buying any. However, both Corsair and OCZ offer lower latency 512mb modules. So, something like the Corsair PC5400UL or 8000UL would be great for LL and/or OCing: http://www.corsairmemory.com/corsair/xms2.html OCZ has a more extensive product lineup that sometimes confuses me but, here's a link. They have modules equivalent to the Corsair offerings: http://www.ocztechnology.com/products/ddr2/ Both companies offer 2gb kits also which is the way I would go for gaming. Since you are Intel based a fast 2gb kit of 2 x 1024mb will offer outstanding OCing options but, the latencies will not be quite as good as the LL versions of course. However, a good OC will offset this on an Intel system.

| First find out what memory the P5N32-SLI DELUXE is certified for. See if there is a throttling down of speed if all four slots are poulated with Double Sided memory.

| The Corsair UL is all SS. I have no idea about the OCZ but I can check if anyone is interested. Also, I have a P5ND2 SLI and it runs great with either 2 or 4 modules. There is no reverting to a slower speed ala AMD. Mike.

| 1Gig OCZ is single sided 2Gig OCZ is double sided. Most of the time, double sided ram is faster and thats what you should get. |

| I have been looking at the 2 x 1g 533 ddr2 Corsair and 2 x 1g ddr2 533 A-data ram but noticed that the corsair is single sided and a-data is double sided which ram should suit the P5n32-SLI deluxe? I heard that double sided should be faster but I just don't Know, plus I looked at Asus site for memory compatibility but there was none? does anyone know? ![]() Last edited by clubsport : 03-05-2006 at 02:34 AM. |

| The SS vs DS testing I have seen was all on Intel chipsets and mostly based on Intel white papers. I have a P5ND2 SLI Deluxe. Looking at my bios and doing the tuning, this chipset "acts" more like an AMD type rig if that makes any sense. The CPU frequency and the memory frequency can be tuned totally independent of each other. So, I'm wondering if the same rules still apply as in the past, some AMD rigs liked SS DIMMs better. At the end of the day, I bet the difference between SS and DS on this chipset will be very small and only definable using benchmarks. Mike.
