Micron Memory Problems

Since getting my CUSL2-C and two 256mb sticks of Microm memory I've been having lockups and crashes in ME and XP.

Three memory checkers failed the two sticks together but passed them when installed alone in any slot. I've been running with one stick of 256mb waiting for new memory as my source told me sometimes two sticks didn't dance together well and new memory was on the way. That was over a week ago. Since then ME went south so bad I couldn't get TCP/IP winsockets to work despite three reinstalls. I made the jump totally to XP but have been getting some nasty crashes and lockups.

Checking back today I learned Micron may have built some bad sticks causing the behavior I have been seeing and there may be a recall. Anyway my source supposedly has new stuff and I will see it via FedEx manana.

The proof of the pudding will be in the eating.

I'll report back soon.

Two new sticks and no crashes

Replaced my suspect Micron "premium" memory with two 256mb sticks of something cured my ailments. No lock-ups, crashes, BSODs in three days now.

Sorry I was so excited to try it out I didn't even look to see who made the new stuff. All I remember is that it had pretty stickers.

Micron says there could not have been a problem with their memory, but as I said, the proof of the pudding is in the eating.

Win XP RC1 with all hardware and apps running rock solid for three days and counting. I guess ME really wasn't so swell after all. I can't wait till this OS goes gold.

The race for quality has no finish line- so technically, it's more like a death march.

It's the board, I got so frustrated with the same exact problem with the CUSL2 that I replaced the board.

Same exact problem as you had using http://www.overclockin.com/reviews/M...sel/index.html

Then switched to Corsair TRUE CAS2 PC133 and again had the same problem.
