Mix and Match Memory?

Ok I thought I would look into getting another gig of memory into my system. I had planned on ordering more of the same memory that I orignaly have(Mushkin 2x512 of DDR433(Model# 991091) Unbuffered Dual Channel Kit system) but newegg does not have the same type of memory. Would it best if I stayed with Mushkin and go with th Redline series or something similiar to my same type of setting I am running now. Or is it safe to go with another brand all together to get that extra gig I want and mix and match my memory? For some reason that last option kind of makes me nervous.
