I can't say for certain but I don't see why the system wouldn't boot. If it did, XP would only see 3.25 GB of RAM. If it didn't boot I'd think that was more of a motherboard issue, as some (I've heard) seem to have problems booting with all memory slots filled.
(Though I've never had a problem with the Bad Axe II having all slots filled...)

A little correction, I'm going to go with the following Mushkin memory. From what I was able to find out on the net, the memory has better timinings than the 5-5-5-18 memory I was looking at, and is more compatible with my board.

I have a feeling I will be too. Initially I'm going to put it in, and get it up and running with the SPD timings of 5-5-5-18, do a little burn in with gaming and so on, and then set it to the timings of 5-4-4-12, that it's capable of.

I figure if I do this, I'll have less problems in the long run.

Slightly off topic, I got rid of a widely used defrag program, known as Diskeeper, as it caused too many performance problems on my system and messed up two of my harddrives, and I saw an improvement of my system performance. Certainly the 8GB's of ram will help even further.

I took a quick look at this question via Google, and did not find any definitive answers. My suspicion is that it would work ok (with only 3.something gB being recognized, of course), but I'm not certain.

The day before I ordered the memory, it was selling for like $85.99, then all of a sudden yesterday morning when I ordered the memory, then price went up to $89.99.

I'm not gonna squawk about the price, not on decent memory like this.

I like the 8GB's of Mushkin HP2 6400 memory I got. I noticed Vista 64 boots faster now, performance is better. I also noticed that game play in games such as C&C 3 for example is smoother with 8GB's of memory, than it was on 4GB's.

Next week on Tuesday, after my week of burning it in at the JEDEC timings of 5-5-5-18, I'm going to go in to the bios and enabled the performance timings of 5-4-4-12.

I can honestly say that Mushkin memory is better than Crucial memory, and I've used Crucial memory for years.
