Jacobite, it is entirely your call on what type of ram to buy. Personal experience's aside I know Mushkin's support leads the industry. Their ram is absolutely guaranteed to do what they say it will or they will replace it N/C. Their tech support is fantastic as anyone who uses their product will vouch for. I myself use 2x128mb of their Rev3 PC133 @ 155MHZ at CAS 2-2-2 5,7 without any issues at all. As for 512mb, I just have to wonder why you need that much. Win2000 apparently maxes out it's efficient use of ram above 256mb. But again, it's your call. This URL has some good info on Win2000 ram efficiencies http://www.futurewindows.com/reviews/win2k_pro_b3.asp Good Luck

Instead of two cheap 256 RAMs, Why not one 256 rev2 Mushkins memory? Hey, Dune ''Rules"

If you want to overclock, go Mushkin Rev2 256MBx2.
you can get at least 2/2/2@FSB143Mhz or more,
but you need $366 except tax now.
If you care about price, go Crrucial PC133CL2 256MBx2.
On default FSB133MHz, it is exactly as fast as Mushkin.
You can get 512MB with just $193 except tax.
It depends on your purpose.

Smile My purpose is to overclock

I just ordered AOpen HX08, **** load a fans and cooler fanbus etc. So I guess I want to max out what I can with this processor although from what I hear it's not the best for oc'ing. I hear you can get it to 930-950.,

Any comments or tips would be appreciated

Jaco

Post Win2k Limits

No, Win2k runs way better with 512MB as apposed to 256MB through my personal experience. It's the Win9x line that doesn't handle memory as efficiently.

As for which RAM is the best, I had 2x128MB Mushkin Rev.2 running at 133 222 7,9, they wouldn't load past Win2k login screen when set to 5,7. I never overclocked. I now have 2x256MB Crucial CL2 PC133 running at 133 222 7,9, Win2k won't load when they're set to 5,7 either. Still not overclocking.

So, in other words, both seemend of equal quality when running at PC133. I've never tried OC'ing them, though so this post is probably worthless =P

This guy here: http://forums.anandtech.com/messagev...hreadid=352853 is selling some nice RAM. This uses the same Infineon chips that Mushkin REV 3 uses but is about 2/3 of the price. Will probably perform equal to it or at least very close to it.
