OCZ4000Gold IS the REAL DEAL!!!

I have 2 x 512 sticks of the OCZ4000Gold parked in the blue slots of my P4C800E Deluxe. Recently I picked up a 2.4C on spec. because I was suspicious that my 2.6C was not overclocking well and was holding back the ram. The 2.4C was capable of 290fsb at 5:4 so I embarked on my own testing. I dialled the bios in to 400mhz or 1:1 and just started cranking up the fsb. When I got to 260fsb 1:1 @ default vcore and the 4000Gold at 275vdimm and still at the 250mhz spec of 2.5,4,4,7 I knew there was a lot of headroom next.

After reading Prometheus's review #2 of the 4000 ram over at Anandtech I needed to beat the OCZ4000Copper. I DID.

I hit 280fsb 1:1 at 2.85vdim 3,4,4,8 that's Standard and PAM enabled. That's 560DDR and 1120fsb. INCREDIBLE!!!!

My best results were at 278FSB where I was able to leave Turbo enabled. I will post both the Sandra Max Buffered results first. Now that's what I call Memory Bandwidth

I have to say that OCZ's service is outstanding and so is there product. And that is from a die-hard skeptic. Thanks OCZ

Yup, the 2.4C just makes sense for what the 4000Gold has to offer. The highest fsb overclocks are with the 2.4C's on average.

I have also noticed ( subjectively ) that the PC is just quicker. 1 gig is useful loading maps in game and eliminating swapping to the hard drive.

2.4C + OCZ4000Gold + Asus P4C800Edlx + ATI9800Pro.

Very HOT foursome

That is a true statement CROCHAMMER.. I noticed that as well. It seems at 1:1 at a minimum of 250FSB, the total system response is amplified...

300FSB I think is the HolyGrail at this point in time.. If you can achieve 300FSB 1:1 with the 2.4C, your computer will be utterly unstoppable. 3.6GHZ 1200FSB DDR600......Perfection at its best..

I love mine even if it is the copper and not the gold. While I haven't gotten quite the results you did (yet). Mine does 263 2.5-3-4-7 @ 2.8v with no problems. OCZ has done it again!

That's almost exactly the same setup I use but let me ask you this... Have you compared gaming results between 1:1 and 5:4 ratios? I mean if your CPU handles 290Mhz FSB why not run it at 5:4 ratio and CPU at ~3.5Ghz. Do some game testing with both ratios at 290FSB and 278FSB to see if in fact ratio 1:1 and lower CPU clock gives you a better 3Dmark score or more FPS in games. Memory bandwidth is only part of the whole picture. I'm getting ready for some OCZ PC4000 myself but I'm also aware I might not reach 290mhz as my 2.4C is perfectly stable at that level. Now do I want to lower my CPU frequency so I can synchronize the memory or simply push the CPU to its absolute highest stable Mhz and lower the ratio to 5:4. Do some game testing and let us know what gives you all around better performance and not just Sandra memory bench. Thanks man!.

PS
I have a good friend www.lanwise.ca that lives where you live, Surrey BC...

Anyone that runs at 278FSB 1:1 instead of 290 5:4 for anything besides producing Sandra screenshots deserves to have their computer confiscated.

Interesting comment meowChow. Do you have a reason or other motivation for making it?
