Angry

Hello to all,
Latelly I am getting an Out of Memory error that I have to reboot my PC so it can work again.
I have WinME (It was Happening in 98) This is happening if I am using IE, I have reinstalled the OS again with no luck.. Can I have a bad Ram ?
I am using 3 128 Sticks of Crucial with a p3 @1000 not overclocked.

Thanks for the help in advance.

Try a Ctrl-Alt-Del the next time you see the message and find out whats currently running on the system. If there's very little listed, then you may have a program that isn't returning mem back to Windows when it shuts down. (Windows can do this too !!). Commonly referred to as a 'memory leak'.

windows has a utility "sysmon" I like to use sometimes to check the health of my system:
http://24.218.106.234/flightsim/sysmon.jpg
I have mine set to monitor

kernel processor usage
swapfile size
allocated memory
unused physical memory
and a few other items

I guess an approximation would be that Allocated memory = (total physical memory - unused physical memory) + some swapfile space or from the picture above(my total memory = 384) so
307.7 = (384 - 123) + about 46 meg of the 80meg swapfile, the swapfile is dynamic and windows may not always be using the full size that it dynamically changes as it's needs change.

I once had a problem with M$ flightsimulator caused by my swap partition free space was being incorrectly reported to windows, my swap partition was set for 512meg and fligtsimulator crashed when it hit around 350meg, a scandisk of my swap partition found and fixed the problem. I happened to have sysmon running at the time and thought I had 150meg of swap file available but scandisk told me otherwise.

click START, RUN and type SYSMON
if you don't have it, you can install it using control panel,
Add/Remove Programs, Windows Setup, select System Tools and check system monitor.

here's another interesting program:

get it here==> http://www.iarsn.com/

hope you solve your problem

jluzbet,

Just curious, is your memory each has 2 sides (chips are located on both sides of the SDRAM pcb)?

From Google Search Engine: http://www.google.com/search?sourcei...+Memory+error+

Interesting link. Seems the 512 MB cap on the CUSL2 isn't such a bad idea after all. Nice find.

Out of Memory

I'm also getting out of memory (I have 256MB), spool errors etc after I formatted my hard drive and installed a fresh WIN98 SE and using the new ASUS CD-ROM version 14.02 (says it on the top of the CD). I was using CD version 14.01. The only things I installed from version 14.02 was the ATA drivers, graphic drivers and the chipset. Glad I'm not the only one seeing this problem. What ASUS CD ROM are you using? Do you think it is a bad motherboard or the drivers from ASUS CD 14.02?

I have 1x256MB and Win98se but don't have that problem.. yet. All I installed was the latest Intel INF drivers (2.80.010a) from their site, right after the OS. Haven't used anything on the CD.

There must be something else you guys have in common other than the OS and RAM.

I'm the same as you ddd, 1x 256 rev2 Mushkin. No problems! I also installed INF drivers only and right after loading the OS.
