| but first i thought i'd just pull out the geil sticks and run just the two ocz....and, presto-chango , everything is back to normal....my 2.4 running smoothly at 30% OC for 3.1......still cant quite figure out why the geil didn't mix-and-match.....

| You may want to try increasing the AGP voltage as IIRC that will give a boost to the chipset voltage. Also, active cooling on the NB may help. There are many things that can affect stability when mixing different ICs and densities of RAM. You are most likely mixing single sided RAM with double sided RAM which is not easy on the memory controller. Also, the ICs themselves, different latencies, differences in PCB behavior, etc. all play into it.
