| Hi Markus, The P3 1 gig stock cooler does a very good job and it's pretty quiet. If you don't plan on overclocking it will work fine. I would advise you to remove the thermal tape, clean the heatsink with isopropyl alcohol and apply some thermal compound instead.

| FYI: The heatsink that came with my (Boxed) Intel P-III 1GHz FPGA Flip-Chip had thermal compound (not a pad or tape) already applied. (Just remember to remove the protective tape covering the compound before you install it) BTW, Watch out for defective hold-down levers on some of the P-III FPGA heatsinks... My original one broke off at the cams when I went to install it. I contacted Intel, and they acknowleged that there were some defective units out there, and asked me what color was the cam/lever (it was GRAY, BTW). They sent me a replacement hold-down assembly via Fed-Ex Overnight... The New cam/lever is GREEN in color, and worked perfectly. Cheers! - Tursiops |
