P4P800 and CMX512-3200LL combo

I know this has been a topic discussed at length....but consider it therapeutic. I have been reading this forum for two days.

I can't get my Turbo to work with or without MAM enabled. It's not like I purchased cheap memory ($600).

Should I be able to get Turbo do work with my setup (see below)?

Has anyone with a similiar setup been able to run in true Turbo / MAM (not overclocked).

Great

I look forward to your results as it would seem or mobo and ram configs are identical.

You should be able to get turbo and mam enabled with that setup since you are running 3200 Low latency sticks. My suggestion would be to make sure that the sticks are on identical colored ram slots (both on blue or both on black). Otherwise try running turbo and mam with one stick at a time and seeing the result. If it turns out that mam and turbo can be enabled with only 1 stick at a time, then perhaps its the fault of the paired sticks, in which case you should talk to your memory dealer about an RMA and a replacement.

Tried that

The sticks are in the right spot. Surprisingly, I thought of your suggestion last night and tried the one stick at a time thing. No luck. I can run MAM with any configuration, but Turbo creates a no boot no matter what I do with the RAM.

I asked RAMGUY at Corsair and he says that the memory will not work in this enhanced mode. That really is ashame since I paid extra for the good stuff so that I wouldn't have issues such as this.

I am going to pull everything but the video and mem tonight just to make sure that it is not something else. I have a haupage wintv capture card that is really cheap....maybe it is that but I don't see how.

timoty,
you will not be able to enable those agressives timings except if you find corsair memory module with winbond BH5 chips (xmx3200ll v1.1 or xms3500 v1.1: all other rev of those memory won't sustain turbo mode nor 2-2-2-5)

Thanks PVHA

Is that newer versions of the MEM or older?

The sticks I bought are brand new (although that doesn't mean there new versions as they could have been in somebodies stock for a while)

Is it that the memory is not top notch or is the Turbo function asking to much from any memory.

The only reason I ask is that I spent extra memory to get this corsair in the hopes of not being limited...and here I am.

I thought that by getting corsair (which from my research is one of the best) and making it the LL, I would be in good shape.

Should I sell it and go with something else, or will I end up with the same problem more than likely.

Is the Turbo function (I have MAM enabled) such a booster that it is worth the hassle????

According to Toms Hardware, it seems that CAS latency means little to nothing in terms of performance on the i865/i875. (http://www.tomshardware.com/motherbo...812/index.html)
So you aren't missing anything when you cannot enable turbo. The biggest benefit seems to be from shear mhz speed so my suggestion would be to rma the 3200ll and get something else.

I would do the same thing except its been over a month since I got my 3200LL. Even though I can turn on turbo/mam etc, were I to buy an extra stick they would not be compatible.

Suggestion

I had a bad stick of the memory when I first bought it two weeks agao so my supplier replaced it. Going back to her and asking for a replacement just because it won't do what it is not even rated for is out of the question.

I could be wrong, but I doubt that Corsair will replace if because it won't do turbo either because according to them it is not intended for, nor rated for 2225 so I am asking for the world in expecting it to.

That would leave me with selling it.

If I did that what would be a good suggested memory.

I take it that when you say shear MHZ matters more than latencies, you are suggesting faster memory, like 4000 so that I can crank up the system and run the memory at 500MHZ or something to that affect.

Will this 3200LL go fast if I back off the timings?

Will the performance be as good or better than running at 200 with mam and turbo enabled?

It seems that shear speed outperforms lower latencies. So yes, I would suggest buying DDR3500 or even DDR4000 if you have teh cash. In terms of selling your existing modules, you will just have to look online and compare prices yourself.

Just read a thread...hey that rymes.

Just read a thread that states that, depending on your CPU, it may be a waste of cash to buy a 3500 or 4000. I have a 3.0.

That means that in order to get the speed out of that memory I would have to SERIOUSLY OC my system.

With a 2.4 or a 2.6 I could probably take advantage of the FSB to gain the RAM speed that those chips offer but I don't know if I am going to get that with a chip that is already running at 3000MHZ.

I can probably crank the 3200LL up pretty close to what the 3.0 will handle with stock cooling!

Hi Timoty

If you decide to try another type of ram, consider the Mushkin PC3200 or PC3500 Level 2. As I understand it, Mushkin guarantees their level 2 series to run at 2-2-2 timings. They are expensive but all comments I have read by those who have purchased from them give high praise for their customer service.

Cheers
