Question about Corsair Prices

Wondering why the TWINX1024-3200 3-3-3-8 memory is more expensive than the 3200C2 2-3-3-6 memory.

NewEgg price for 2x512 sticks (dual channel DDR400 matched pair)

3200 is $152 (3-3-3-8) fast
3200C2 is $115 (2-3-3-6) faster
3200XL is $188 (2-2-2-5) fastest

Seems according to the speed the 3200 should be $100 or less? The XL is the fastest so that price is understandable. Is there any reason to pick the 3200 over the 3200C2?

Timings don't necessarily determine the price. A lot depends on the quality of the chips used. I would check with the Corsair forum. People there might be able to answer your question.

Thanks, I posted over there.

I think sometimes you pay more for older product because it was more expensive to make and not necessarily better. For instance if the newer product is made with a 65nm process instead of 90nm then it is cheaper to make and uses less voltage and is faster. The 90nm is more expensive because they get fewer chips per wafer so the retail price is higher...
