OCZ question

Hi I'm fairly new here and I have a question. I tried XMS 3500 in Rig1 but I had to RMA it. Now I'm wondering which RAM to buy. I'm torn between XMS4000 and OCZ4000. I see there alot of in depth reviews here so I'd like to have your oppinions.

GenTech is already reporting that they have OCZ5001024ELDC-K... but it appears to be copper?

Well I just got off the phone with OCZ and they said the GOLD DDR 400 is still in testing. The "copper version" is out there but there is a difference. The woman I spoke to also said they were using OCZ chips and not the Samsung ones on this. Now I wonder how long it will be before it's out of test.
*Waits as paitently as he can*

OCZ does not make their own chips.

Neither does Corsair or Mushkin as far as I know.

I think for the most part they take "whomever's" chips and through whatever processes they use, overclock the ram to get to the rated frequency they are advertised at.

Doesn't bother me in the least, as long as they are of the newly defined OCZ-quality.

Yup I agree with that too.

Performance talks not marketing.

BUT sometimes knowing what they are using is an indication of what the potential is.

In recent events Corair went to Windbond CH chips in the version 1.2 of their 3200ll and other Dimms. They are apparently not as good as the previous version 1.1 Windbond BH chips. Knowing the revision number you can sometimes score better ram for the price. Corsair DOES show the revision number on their stickers.
