ram performance disappointing....

my new PC3200 Gold at 2-2-2-5 timings barely performs better buffered and performs worse unbuffered than my old Plat. Rev 2's at 2.5-4-3-7 timings at the same speeds. this is not making any sense to me. I thought tighter timings meant better performance. could my mobo be to blame?????? because i also can't boot to windows at more than 245 without using more than 3.65vdimm

Plats: 6456/6388 buffered and 3214/3305

Gold: 6517/6436 buffered and 3176/3292 unbuffered

Have you run 3DMark or SuperPi? Both of those tests tend to benefit from tighter timings. Use the mooded version of SuperPi which measures times down to the millisecond. Also try some gaming to see what kind of frame rates you're getting.

just started testing tonite, and i am really tempted to order a Neo2.

my superpi 1M score is identical, i didn't have my 32M score recorded at 240mhz before so i can't compare that, but i just got 29m 43s at 240 and 2-2-2-5 @3.48v

running 2001se now to compare that score with my old one at 240

On UTT modules, the secondary timings are often very important.

Check eva2000's timings. Link

See if they help you.

some of those are DFI nf4 settings only right? i know i could change some of them with A64 tweaker though. Is there any possibility this could be mobo related? i can just order a neo2 if that would be better

re-running 2001se with 1.425vcore, same settings as above, we will see what happens i guess.
