Question

The Cusl2 manual precises that for standard operation of the SDRAm the corresponding jumper ( Voltage I/O setting ) page 21 has to be set at 3.4 V.
I understood SDRAM is working at 3.3 V, what does it actually mean ?

Thanks

I'm runing @3.3 volts.I think the higher voltage setting is better for overclocking.I'm purdy sure that I/O voltage setting is not just the memory but the entire PCI bus voltage.<i'm not an expert like SKull up there>I think your devices are rated @3.3 why run @3.4 unless you want to overclock the PCI bus?Same with the CPU.......you wouldn't run @ 1.6 volts if the chip called for 1.5 volts ..unless you wanted to overclock the chip. Not to say a higher voltage isn't more stable,it very well maybe......but for my money why risk damage to components tested and rated @3.3?Of course if you buy cheap components you will have nothing but headaches @3.4 volts anyway.Asus has a long way to go in the area of explainations of the features of their boards.

Hey, I've had my mobo on default VIO for 8 months set according to the manul! I've upped it only a few times for OC'ing, but mostly set to default. It doesn't take an expert which I'm certainly not! 200 post makes no one an expert. Read and follow your manual, quit trying to second guess it! They are the best instructions for the operation and maintenance of your mobo. After all Asus does not want these boards back in their faces, now do they! I read my manual and follow the instructions! The results are, I have a smooth running machine in fact two smooth running machines. Thats one reason I'm able to spent so much time here helping folks. The truth is I need something to fix and my machines all run smooth. Besides I love to help people. So ''READ THE MANUAL AND FOLLOW ITS INSTRUCTIONS'' if you want what I have, and forget the experts and second guessing!!!

Skull is right to what has said.
I`m not an "expert" or something(but soon I`ll be),but I run 3.66V(3.6V jumper setting) a looong time with proper cooling to components that applies that voltage.
At default and recommended VIO no probs as it`s only about 5% of increase anyway and all market`s components are designed for that tolerance.
Now I had applied to my machine VIO @3.82V for 10min and all were like normal.
According to ASUS recommended VIO you have underset the voltage, does this help underclocking?Just a question.
ASUS gives the 3.3V option for those who afraid that their system won`t last +10years or their VGA,mem is junk
This my opinion though, others follow their own or what most people think right-VIO default

Leave on default unless you see a gain in lower setting.

PS.I want to be an expert!

Thanks patentman for the input. Read, study, learn and work on your computer, plus hang around here and one day you will be an expert. The 200 post will not do it! I have 900 post and I'm still no expert most likely never will be one! I'm just at a stage of learning, of which there are many when it comes to computers. I just want to keep learning and helping where I can. But the expert I can do with-out. The only thing I'm an expert at is screwing-up! lol...
